  1. Good point, but as I don't yet own a Q5 but am looking to buy, I obviously have questions but can't help with answers. I have contributed plenty on other forums, for which I am or have been an owner

  2. New Members - please read before posting ! Be civil Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech. Avoid confrontational responses to post content that may be different to your own personal beliefs. Everyone has their own opinion on different matters and this provides for diversity, so please avoid an argument. Be polite It doesn't cost anything to have manners and would be appreciated by the community if you included 'please and thank you' as required in your posts. Keep it clean Don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit. Respect each other Don’t harass or troll anyone, impersonate people, or expose their private information. Be respectful to Moderating Staff and other members at all times. No politics or religion Nothing starts a fight faster than politics or religion, so we don't allow those discussions. Keep personal information private All posts in the forums are easily found via search engines, so unless you're willing to expose your information to the world, please do not post telephone numbers, e-mail addresses etc in your posts. Have a little patience We are a club made up of members who have to work days or nights so can’t always reply straight away, someone will get back to you as soon as they can, so please be bear with us. Thread titles Be accurate with your topic by giving a brief sentence of the problem, hint or tip you would like to get across to other members. These are not concrete terms with precise definitions — avoid even the appearance of any of these things. If you’re unsure, ask yourself whether you'd go on TV and publicly say it on camera. This is a public forum, and search engines index these discussions. Keep the language, links, and images safe for family and friends. Follow Up Please find the time to follow up your post with a conclusion (such as; that worked, tried that but didn't work, etc) so contributing members can see whether their advice and suggestions worked in this instance. You may receive an email asking you to add a conclusion to your post, please find the time to return to your post and marked it as solved.

  3. Thanks, WBAC weren't able to provide a valuation immediately and wanted to review the car (not now possible) but I didn't hold out any hope that they wouldn't just provide a very low value! The van that hit me has admitted full responsibility and the insurers looking to recompense, I'm just not happy that they're providing an accurate pre crash value, but will keep on trying to find some reasonable like for like prices. Cheers Ken

  4. Thanks I have a service plan but this particular gearbox oil change is not included. Turns out that a non dealership specialist was slightly more expensive but they included flushing. Had it done at Audi for convenience of being done at the same time.

  5. Hello ‘D’, ’……where to start’? Simple things first - eliminate the battery as being the culprit, and get its full serviceability tested at one of Halford’s shops. Also worth getting the alternator output checked at the same time. Kind regards, Gareth.

  6. Hi Sue, Pleased to hear they are investigating for you. I will certainly email him too. I have been in touch with Audi Uk no luck they basically said tough. So complaint is now with the motor ombudsman. Thanks for sharing the MD’s email - much appreciated.

  8. Hi I know it's an old thread but I had the same problem, I have a 1999 a3 petrol 3 door quattro, driver door wouldn't shut properly and just popped open when driving part number for the catch is 8L2837016B after a very long hunt you cannot get this part number anywhere and everyone says nothing else fits, I spent hours hunting ebay just looking at the pictures to find a close match just to do some testing to see if I could get another to work, I came across one part number is 8D1837016A I got it from Lithuania and only cost me £12, it fits perfectly and works 100% hope this will help someone in the future with this issue

  9. We've found this that other manufacturer forums get more footfall. I'm not sure why the Audi one isn't as positive. Myself and fellow admin team do our best to respond to posts but please bare in mind we are all volunteers who do work full time jobs (I do 74 hours a week!).

  10. Thanks mate. Yeah it was actually 3 of them, a bloke, a kid and an elderly lady. The buyer distracted me to the rear of the car and the old woman did the sabotage with the kid looking out. Romanians. reported to the Met Police who booked a visit to my home, then never bothered to show up or call me back. Says it all.

  11. I have thought the same thing! However unless your prepared to put in the time and respond to other peoples posts then you cant really complain when they dont reply to yours! Forums are a 2 way street. I have run several forums and some go this way due to participant reluctance to answer other peoples posts, and some end up the other way with every thread going off script! when you dig into it, you might find that people are reluctant to give experiences for several reasons, 1. They are busy people that just dont have time to browse. 2. Their own experience isnt vast enough to be able to answer your question, 3. theres been a history of abusive messages when something isnt 100% and they dont want to face abusive messages. 4. not enough regular visitors and people only come online to post when they have a problem.

  12. Hello Peter, I recommend you stick with the tyre pressures specified for your tyre size - as shown on the door plate. No reason to consult any other available information. Kind regards, Gareth.

  13. As i used to say on other forums i ran a good few years ago. Sometimes you have to lead by example. If you want more responses, you have to post more on other peoples threads and not just your own. I know that sounds a bit like tit for tat kinda thinking, but what i mean by it. If theres more interaction on the site in general and more discussion around mods, fixes, upgrades and so on. you will have a higher % a chance that someone is going to see a topic that they can answer. I happen to be at a computer most days so i can access forum whenever. But theres things i wouldnt know the first thing about! So ill refrain unless i have read about it or seen it posted elsewhere before.
