  1. Hi if you need a cluster repair as they say up north there is Nowt finer than ECU Testing. Steve.
  2. Hi Kev its all about the filters in the box. Steve.
  3. Hi most Adblue deletes are legally sold on the understanding that the the car will not be driven on public roads therefore they are able to do it, lots of people have this done which is fine until the government introduce the new legislation and particle analysing equipment in to the MOT system, its coming, the Adblue helps with regeneration of the DPF, which in your case allied to the extra fuel used with the remap and the lack of Adblue may result in the regeneration cycle not being of sufficient duration to clear the soot particles and as Audi use a very low soot/ash calculation will cause it to block more quickly so try a forced regeneration as from your data the fault has only occurred once. Steve.
  4. Hi, no they will only make a noise when they have spat out all the oil and shredded the bonded rubber mount, my only clue was the rocking of the engine when revved and as mine is manual the worn gearbox mounting made it hard to engage first and second the other sign was the gearstick was moving excessively when accelerating or decelerating so I just changed all three as they wear as a set fortunately the gearbox mount is solid rubber and not that hard to change but the engine mounts are, one had started to lose oil and both sides the rubber was creased and beginning to split. Steve.
  5. Hi as far as I am aware its at the bottom or near the air filter box its function is to draw in warm air from the engine when the ambient air coming in is to cold, it helps the engine warm up.
  6. Hi Steve is right I have had to change my engine/ gearbox mounts they normally start going sideways at about 80k or five years, they are what is known as Hydro mounts I don't know why because they are full of oil not water and electronically controlled. Steve.
  7. Hi no problem but the thing I forgot was if your BMS function requires a code to reset it use the code off the original unit and just change one digit on the last three digits on the original code, that should fool it as if you use the original code alone the daft system thinks its the same battery as it all ready knows about and will overcharge the new unit, hopefully I car soft has the same system as Snap on and just tells it the battery is new and to get on with it. Shame about the lack of supply in your area as where I live in Essex on a Saturday if you even mention new battery the grappling hooks come out in legions to try and get your wallet. Steve.
  8. Come on Steve you expect it on a Fix Or Repair Daily, believe me I had three of em and it was like painting the Golden Gate bridge, you get to the end and start on the beginning again. Steve.
  9. Hi Kev try gabbing OBD Eleven it pretty good even at entry level and is definitely VAG specific and has a fearsome amount of options regarding re adaption/ coding and has invasive interrogation on the pro version, have a read up on the internet before choosing which version there are guys on here using it with good reviews. Last but not least when changing the battery have another spare battery connected to the jump points under the bonnet as this will provide power continuity when you disconnect the old unit and stop things like the window operation and central locking losing their adaptations, just remember to be very careful with the red lead on the battery as it will still be hot from the donor battery voltage, I found wrapping a marigold glove round it when disconnected normally stops it touching things it shouldn't. Steve.
  10. Hi, good idea changing the hand brake cables as if one is slightly seized it will hold that calliper on slightly and have a massive heat up and cook the calliper, most calliper problems are caused by dirty brake fluid which contains to much water as brake fluid is Hydroscopic and will absorb loads of water which lays in the piston housing and rots it to the calliper body. Steve.
  11. Hi Kev the battery if knackered will cause all sorts of problems and yes its in the boot, rule of thumb is never replace any part based on a U code and the other question is has the gearbox ever had a service, the problem with Delphi software is its a shade vague on descriptions of faults but intermittent looks very much like the battery, if you get a new one regardless of make it must match the original unit in every specification, physical size and cranking amps etc and it will need to be coded to the car or you will kill the new unit in record time. Steve.
  12. Hi try these Andrew, the further you dig in on the NHTSA site the more appalling the list of TSBs become apparently unknown in Europe do you think they set out to supply the yanks with substandard models I think not, its clear the Krauts have been working on the theory if they don't tell us we can't moan.
  13. Hi Andrew got this off an American website it may well be worth a look its a relay that is causing the problem although your car is a 15 plate it might be the relay if you read the blog, its for left hand drive but if you transpose the diagrams they are exactly what we have on our cars.
  14. Hi try this, are there any gearbox specialist in your area, sorry neck of the woods is an old term for where you live.
  15. Hi don't bother with terra clean as I have known people to have that process and still end up replacing the offending parts, if you look at it it logically if you clean the EGR and throttle body and one or both items especially the EGR are worn out the cleaning won't cure that problem you still have to buy a new unit that way you have lost the money for the cleaning and the parts, these things are all good if done regularly from new, my advice would be clean what you have and see what occurs. Steve.
  16. Hi it sounds as though the cam belt timing has slipped and locked the cams, have a word with Regal Engines in Purfleet in Essex, its a long way from you but they are about the most honest and helpful people I have ever dealt with. Steve.
  17. Hi try cleaning the EGR as they are prone to playing up and not throwing codes up, if thats not working properly that would cause the first symptom as the EGR failing will fill the throttle body with gunge so it can't get to the required position quickly enough, the throttle body normally only throws a code when it starts to get well and truly stuck. Steve.
  18. Hi Google in Mercedes owner £15,000 battery replacement, he paid £27,000 for the car four years ago and its now worth £12,000 at eight years old if its on its toes, his will be worth that if he buys a new battery for £15,000 and pays the £200 an hour to fit it, most expensive front garden ornament I ever heard of and scrap its worth £500 if he can find a scrap merchant thats licensed to dismantle it, as for the manufacturers I wonder what they will do when they price most of their customer base out you would have thought they would have learned from the lockdown when that near crucified them with the drop in sales, no they are just like all the the rest of the greedy corporations they are trying to claw back the loses which any decent accountant will tell you is and never will be feasible. I have a recurring nightmare that all forums in the future will be called the Electric Owners Club and the stock answer to any problem will be GO TO YOUR NEAREST DEALER as no one else will be able to fix it, then as an owner you might as well ask if they will take your house as part payment or alternatively buy a Horse to get about on, and you know what the weather will still do whatever it wants I liked Shytots quote about living in caves and eating vegetables whilst still being cold. Steve.
  19. Hi , is it me or does it seem like we are going to be forced in to high priced electric vehicles, I wouldn't mind betting that in ten years second hand conventional vehicles will be making telephone number prices and Audis hard won market share will be reduced as its only the rich and those that know nothing about cars and want a serious second mortgage that will be buying them, one of my friends last year purchased an all electric Kia Niro, Mr got to have the latest tech is now thoroughly Pixxed off with it as the recent cold snap has cut his battery range even further, you can be told the technology is ever improving I find that about as plausible as us ever eradicating Covid but it seems they will yet force us to buy these things by using the much over used statement that its better for the environment a statement that is on par with the story of the kings new clothes. Depressing isn't it. Steve.
  20. Hi the float will be attached to the new lift pump it sounds like it could be a collapsed or blocked fuel line start by removing the feed pipe to the filter housing and see if it pumps out fuel when the ignition is cycled if it does it could be you have a dodgy fuel rail pressure sensor. Steve.
  21. Hi the throttle position sensor is most likely the throttle body gunged up the other two are random and would not affect the driving of the car also look at servicing the gearbox, new filters and oil. Steve.
  22. Hi just make sure whoever fits them gets the springs the right way up. Steve.
  23. Hi worse case scenario is get another plug from the breakers with a suitable amount of wire left on it at cut and shut the wiring and solder it together. Steve.
