  1. If a cambelt is slightly loose it won't necessarily slip a tooth but it can be enough to put the two sensor out of phase....haven't seen this fault since the Vauxhall Cavalier but the principle is the same so it's worth checking to be on the safe side.
  2. Hi Josh....welcome to the Forum It could be a combination of fault switches but worth checking the wiring going into the door from the A post as when the door opens and closes the wiring can get broken internally. Hold the button in a switched position and wiggle the wiring or open/close the door slightly to see if it operates. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  3. Hi Ben....welcome to the Forum There have been numerous posts on here recently about the poor mpg figures being delivered by the diesel engined Audi's. Do wonder if its something to do with the recent emissions scandal or whether there is something wrong with the fuel quality lately. I am getting significantly less mpg on one of my other cars (Honda CR-V cdti) which was always delivering an average of 44mpg at any point in time....now is won't go above 37mpg no matter what. First thought are to service it to improve the smooth running of the engine to try to increase it but thought I may try higher grade (more expensive) fuel on offer in the stations to see if it makes any difference. Only other suggestion I could make is to consider a remap which should improve mpg figures? Cheers Trevor
  4. A remap may improve this?
  5. Hi Dave...welcome to the Forum Don't know from personal experience but hear the 'real world mpg' isn't as near as the quoted manufacturers figures but probably a remap would improve that. Otherwise, the bigger Diesel engine Audi's are pretty reliable overall. Let us know how you get on with purchasing one. Cheers Trevor
  6. Here is a link to some info on MMI systems that may be of help http://mr-fix.info/tag/audi-mmi-3g/?utm_source=AudiOwnersClub&utm_medium=ForumLinks&utm_campaign=referrals Not sure if any members now if this is the latest issue?
  7. Sorry...self tapping screws (usually cross head type) with quite a course thread
  8. Hi Marvin...welcome to the Forum Lol...I can see why you are prioritising the garage build...the Landy sounds awesome ! Could check the glow plugs or the coolant sensor to start with as both would have the symptoms for cold starts Cheers Trevor
  9. Hi Den....welcome to the Forum Pop up some pictures of the A6 if you like, would love to see how the mods look. You may want to fit the heated seats soon as its getting a bit baltic now. Cheers Trevor

  11. Hi Shane...welcome to the Forum Looking forward to reading your posts in the future....feel free to ask any questions whenever Cheers Trevor
  12. Hi Dave...welcome to the Forum The Q7 is an awesome car...enjoy it ! Cheers Trevor
  13. I think James is right that the convertible does not do this...more than likely a feature that doesn't enable the boot to open when there is any likelihood of the roof being in anything but a closed position.
  14. That's quite appalling mpg obtained by a car that is advertising much higher figures. The other way forward would be to get it remapped which will pull out the best from the engine and give you much better economy and performance. It would be a case of finding a tuning company that would not void the manufacturer warranty but it is only a software remap and can always be put back to standard if required.
  15. I wouldn't imagine there would be any way to seal the leak for the long term. Below is a link for some Q7 air suspension parts and there are new ones for £189 which isn't too bad and if it only goes down overnight at the moment then at least it's one of those jobs to leave until it becomes more imperative...or necessary from a safety perspective. http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts-results/Q7/Air-Suspension--Parts/174088
  16. Never tried an auto version and I know Yamaha did the FJ with an autobox option. Does it take a bit of getting used to?
  17. I suppose the conversation about Le Mans is about Audi so that's okay I can imagine that the emissions scandal did have something to do with running out of money for racing...very sad really. I would have thought it would cost around £300-325 for a specialist repairer to replace the lot. Not always best to go for the cheapest quote though.
  18. Excellent! I'm also a huge Le Mans / WEC fan (as you can see by my profile piccy), but unfortunately not so much of an F1 fan. Do you go to Le Mans each year? Shame about Audi dropping out of World Endurance Championship now...just leaves Porsche & Toyota in LMP1 now.
  19. It sounds very much like one of three things 1. Fuel filter and/or housing could be drawing air .... down to poor fitting, poor quality filter or defective filter assembly. Definitely worth checking first. 2. More than often with modern variable vane turbochargers, the vanes stick with carbon build-up from driving around towns and not really working the turbo...that is until you go to accelerate on a motorway and the vanes are stuck, hence the EML comes up and no power until you reset. The best way around this it to clean it with a specialist cleaning solution and then once up and running properly, to drive it in a lower gear and take onto motorway blasts every so often. If all else fails and you know it is definitely the turbo vanes at fault then you could replace the cartridge unit within the turbo for not a lot of money. 3. Sometimes the Wastegate Valve can go faulty or the vacuum hose to it is split which can also have the same symptoms but you should be able to swap it over with another one in the engine bay which is identical to determine this. Found it doesn't usually make much of a difference though. 20. The coolant sensors tend to fail over time but cheap to replace also, check the connector and wiring going to the sensor as these tend to break. Otherwise these big diesel engines don't tend to run too hot.
  21. I'm a big fan of Shell oils and have used them for years with no problems. Interestingly, I always try to buy Shell oil in the supermarkets in France as it was so cheap to buy when the Euro was in our favour.
  22. Oh dear! sounds like a right drama. The undertray is a complete waste of time really and if you remove the complete thing it won't make any difference to the driving, except for maybe some increased wind noise from underneath and a minuscule difference in the MPG possibly. The suspension bushes should be cheap to buy and replace and would make a difference but worth doing before adjusting the wheel geometry to set it up where it should be. http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts-results/A4-S4-RS4/Complete-Suspension-Units/174090 Otherwise, it doesn't sound too bad overall, just bits and pieces to sort out then. Keep us informed of your progress with it all Cheers Trevor
  23. Hi Chris...welcome to the Forum As you have already identified that the cambelt and waterpump should always be replaced as a matter of caution, I think you're mostly there in realising that if you carry out routine maintenance with quality parts then the car should serve you many years without too many problems. As regards to the oil specification, I would always use the best oil you can get for your budget....Mobil1 or Shell Helix Ultra are superb oils and around £40 for the amount you would need. Have a look at this section of the Forum as these guys will give you a good deal if you're buying for DIY or otherwise, their website will list the oil specs you need to know. http://www.audiownersclub.com/forums/forum/86-opie-oils/ Cheers Trevor
  24. Hi Jason....welcome to the Forum Generally, the 2.0 TFSI engine is quite good if its maintained correctly and driven properly by the previous owner(s). What problems are you having with it? Cheers Trevor
