Hi steve. Needed new pressure sensor and adblue pump. Going to cost about £2000 to put right all in. I got rid. Traded in for 17 plate mondeo. That audi was a shed. It looked nice but mechanicly it was run in to the ground.
I think we've crossed wires here.
I was asking Steve about his EGR cooler and pressure sensor he mentioned in his post I quoted.

What model, and mileage was it?

Hi if you are thinking about buying VCDS have a little research session and have a look at the Ross Tech U.K. site they will give a list of U.K. distributors, what you buy in the various VIN levels is the interface and the software which once purchased is sent to you as a parcel, interface, and as a download you will need a computer to get the download, I chose to buy an old Dell 320 latitude as that had the capacity for multiple software programs and never goes near the net unless I require updates, speak to the supplier calls Marshall Industrial they are very helpful and will talk you through it, as I said its not cheap but since I have had mine at a cost of just over £400 for the ten VIN I have performed the following, re adaption of the battery when renewed on my daughters Q3, re adaption of her new throttle valve as well as putting the inspection reminder out forever, I did the same with the inspection warning on my car as well as re adaption of the new oxygen sensor I had fitted, I have also used it to do both vehicles rear brake lining changes as it puts the callipers into service mode fit new pads press button to take it out of service mode, good OEM rear pads are about £50 so why would I want to pay someone another £120.00 plus vat to change them, I have also re adapted multiple sensors on other vehicles and actually earned pennies for the task, I think you will be ok with the three VIN option which is a lot cheaper, give you an idea of how good they are when my mechanic changed my low pressure EGR valve and cooler you have to re adapt the new valve his new £5000 Snap on unit wouldn't touch it as it only had the facility to do the high pressure side, the suggestion was to get his mobile Audi specialist to do the job another seventy quid, I plugged in with my kit and did it in less than four mins, I did not use my Mac Air book for the download as it would have given trouble operating with their anti virus system therefore the Dell running windows seven was ideal, just ask their advice when speaking to them or I can ask my friend who is a computer whizz as he did my download and interface registering for me otherwise it could have taken weeks.
Steve.
Hi Steve,
How's the car running since you had the EGR cooler changed? Did you change the valve too?
Was it the cooler or the G450 sensor you needed to adapt?
UDS Protocol (G450) procedure

After the result of Finished Correctly appears click [Stop]Select Resetting of learned values of difference pressure sensor

As Steve and Stevey have already mentioned, P2002 is caused by a blocked EGR cooler, though it's worth doing a voltage check on the G450 sensors too because that's the pressure feedback.
I was strongly advised to not delete the EGR cooler, so to avoid failure of components/engine from overheating 12-18 months later.
You could be lucky and get away with replacing an £80 sensor vs. £1k for an EGR valve and cooler replacement, but you're already experiencing it getting hot quickly, so chances are it's blocked.

I've since used this:
Autoglym VRC500US Vinyl & Rubber Care, 500ml https://amzn.eu/d/2LTVxQJ
Very easy to use; all seals done in around 10 minutes. And I'm really pleased with the outcome.
-
So what's the learning here?
If something is not clear, get clarification in writing before you sign the deal.
-
I just don't get it. All this effort for what is essentially an extra £20/month on a car that's being rented at a cost of what? £300-500/month?
I wish this was all I had to concern myself with in life. It's all relativel I guess 🙂
-
Thanks for the summary.
I've never had a car on a lease, but I'd personally expect details of the service to be in writing so there's no ambiguity.
The A5 I bought had been serviced on the 2 year/18600 miles and so had my wife's Golf. They were both 4 years old from a lease.
I realise none of this is helpful, and really cannot relate, so all the best with this - I hope you achieve the desired outcome.
-
Someone help me out here please.
Is the issue potentially having to spend an extra £400 over a 3 year period? Or any fallout from the car not being serviced according to the recommended schedule?

Quick update:
Car is booked in to have the EGR Valve and Cooler replaced. I'll get some photos of the old parts, and do a quick summary of my experience and learning when it's done.
-
Done! Perfect
-
It's behind the glovebox.
If you cannot see this from the manual in the A5 forum, I'd advise you take it to a garage.
-
Is it possible to do so?
-
I've disabled it using VCDS but it doesn't stop it from becoming active when the ignition is cycled. The only way I know of is to manually disable in the MMI at the start of every journey.

I've had it happen once in the five or so months I've owned my A5 when the postie crossed the road and I'd moved over to give him more space, but I was only doing around 10 MPH and not using ACC.
It's a shame the original post was not followed up.

Snap, I am currently recovering from an operation and thought it would be quick job and costing around £100 how wrong was I 😂 they have just quoted £550 for Cambelt change no sure if that’s a good price ?
Where do you live? Dealers sell the recirculation flap motors for £219 Inc VAT in Cambridge area.
I've not had the cambelt done on mine yet. It's coming up to the 5 year point in September, so I'll have it have it changed then.
My old A4 B8 diesel was around £450 with water pump.

The specialist source the part from the main dealer hence the price, I did try and look on eBay out of Curiosity but couldn’t find one.
I heard dealers vary their prices, but I never thought it would be so much!

Great you have this sorted.
Did you buy the part, or the specialist?

Hi if you dipped the oil after a change and a small run it will be black as diesel produces far greater carbon inside the engine than petrol engines in which the oil can still be fairly clear after a couple of thousand miles.
Steve.
Indeed, it does turn black quickly.
I've never let an oil change go past 10k, so you become familiar with how it looks/smalls at that point.
Maybe I just need to move on with the times 😄

Hi yes if you use Autoglym leather cleaner and then the leather balm that normally works, it does on mine anyway all the other stuff just made the seats slippery.
Steve.
I have an unused bottle of that. I recall buying it for one last effort, but then I lost interest 😕
-
No, I don't have photos. The manual extract posted on May 16th shows where it is.
-
Yeah, I've seen the one from states, but as you say it's over-priced even without shipping and potential customs.
My only desire for this is to see the oil condition, but I suppose that can wait until the end of year when I do the interim oil change at around 9k miles.

I realise the level can be checked in the MMI but has anyone fitted a physical dipstick to the B9? If so, which part did you use?
