  1. Thanks Steve I bought the case in your link and the USB charging pad from an Audi dealer on eBay. The phone box in the armrest came as part of the Tech package and as far as I can tell works fine. It is the USB charging pad that is baffling me. At first I thought it might have been my keys interfering with the signal as I put them in front of the light (it is very bright) but that wasn’t the case. My latest theory is that it may depend on how discharged the battery is. If the battery level is about 70 to 80% it shows the error. If the battery level is lower it seems to stay charging all night. I will keep an eye on it and report back.
  2. Has anyone use the Audi iPhone wireless charging case and pad? I usually put my phone on the charging pad every night. Sometimes the blue charging light stays on all night. Other times the light flashes red. Occasionally the phone will ping as is disconnects and reconnects to the pad. Has anyone else seen this? Does the light flash red when the phone is fully charged? The case works perfectly in the phone box in the car. It even reminds me if I open the door with it still in the armrest.
  3. I mostly use an iPod Classic using a normal Apple cable in the USB port which works well, apart from occasionally forgetting what playlist it is on. I have tried a usb stick but it would not recognise it. I have also put some songs on an sd card which works fine.
  4. The calipers were more than likely powder coated originally. I worked for 30 years for a powder coating company that supplied component manufacturers. The epoxy coating has great chemical resistance so providing the pretreatment and curing conditions are correct the calipers should not be affected by cleaning products, certainly not this soon.
  5. Update: Switch replaced. Car working again. Great service from Audi Roadside Assist.
  6. Update: Roadside Assist arrived about 20 minutes after I called. Took him about half an hour to work out how to get to the switch - removed the plastic ring around the gear lever to lift the gaiter. He could then push the switch out from underneath. He has ordered a new switch and will come back tomorrow to fit it, so no trip to the dealer is required. That’s what I call service.
  7. The AA are on their way. i went to try it again and the switch was not moving. As I opened the door the ignition came on and I couldn’t turn it off. Managed to start the engine and move the car. Stopped it again no problem. Called the dealer first and they told me to call the AA.
  8. Moved the car out of the garage this morning without problem. Went back about 10 minutes later and it won’t start. The switch definitely doesn’t feel right. I think a call to the dealer is required.
  9. Thanks Piotr It has only happened the once so far. If it happens again we’ll get it checked out by the dealer.
  10. Hi Steve Thanks for your answer. She was outside an independent garage we have used and the mechanic had a quick look but couldn’t offer any answers. She thought that the switch felt like it was stuck so maybe it is faulty. If it happens again we’ll get it checked out by the dealer under warranty. I’ll keep you posted.
  11. My wife went to stop the engine in her TT today (2016 1.8 Sport Manual) and she couldn’t. She tried moving forward and back and it still wouldn’t stop. The only solution was to stall the engine. It has behaved itself since then.Anyone else seen this?
  12. This is what Audi say on their website The start-stop system automatically switches off the engine when the car is moving at a low speed or is stopped, for example at traffic lights, and starts it automatically when the speed increases or the journey continues As the car is braking to a standstill, the system switches off the engine and signals this via a symbol on the dashboard. When you release the brake pedal to continue on your journey, the engine starts and the symbol on the dashboard is removed.
  13. Could be the combination of the auto box and the diesel engine. Mine’s a petrol.
  14. Hi Phil I’ve only had my A3 a month so I am still trying to adapt to the stop start after having a manual BMW (in which the stop start hardly ever worked). I haven’t noticed it cutting in before I stop, but if it does cut the engine if I take my foot off the brake immediately it restarts. It seems to be less keen to work in ‘Dynamic’ mode but I’m not sure if that is the case. I haven’t experienced the car rolling back but I have hill hold assist which may make the difference.
  15. The phone box came as part of the Tech package, but I think you can order it separately. You also need a phone that supports wireless charging. I bought the Audi wireless charging case on eBay.
  16. Yes, it does look like something is missing. When I bought my Tiguan I went for the fog light option. Not because I particularly wanted them, but otherwise all there would have been was black plastic blanking plates.
  17. Thanks Piotr. It’s not a big issue as from what I have experienced so far is that the changes are smoother in D. In E the upward changes are more noticeable and in S it feels like the box is changing down a couple of gears when slowing for a roundabout. I am looking to set up the individual mode, but was wondering if the settings stay or if you have to reset it every time.
  18. Just tested mine on the way home. They give a very wide flat beam.
  19. I don’t know if this has been covered elsewhere, but I am trying the different Drive Select settings to compare them. I noticed when I first switched to ‘efficiency’ the gear indicator started with an E. When I next started the car, ‘efficiency’ was still showing on the rev counter but the gear indicator went back to D. I have now tried ‘dynamic’ and the gear indicator changed to S. However next time I started the engine it had gone back to D. Do you have to change the Drive Select every time or is it just the gearbox that changes?
  20. Yes, I find that useful in pay and display car parks. If you leave the window down a little you can stick the ticket on the inside then close the window without unlocking the car and opening the door again. Not sure if this works with keyless entry without using the keyfob.
  21. I put my phone in the arm rest to charge yesterday. When I got home, as I opened the door I got a message that ‘your mobile phone is still in the vehicle’. Very clever!
  22. You can either adjust the centre console, door and footwell light together or press the right button and adjust each individually
