  2. Hi everyone, I am in possession of an B5 Audi A4 2.3 V6 Petrol from 1999. REG T874 AFC. I am hoping to get it into showroom condition for an elderly friend, Geoff. His wife passed away 6 years ago and it has been in the garage ever since. It is in pretty good condition with only 24K miles and a full service history. I have checked the fluids, cam belt ( as best as possible)changed the fuel, used some fogging oil and she started no problem. Geoff is keen to sell it at auction on Bangers and Cash. Not sure if it is their sort of thing or not though. I understand it is a reasonably rare model, and I have not been able to find one for sale!! I was hoping to find some advice here and to tips on this site. Any advice on where I could purchase the following would be much appreciated. Alloy Wheel Centre Caps Front drivers side outside plastic Trim Touch up paint name / code Many thanks in advance, hope you enjoy the the overload of pictures 🙂 regards Turboted (Martin)

  4. Sure. Lots of phone calls to lots of organisations and a smattering of wit.
  5. Welcome Samuel, and sorry to hear of your plight. I take it the c£2,400 inc.VAT for parts must equate to changing the flywheel as well as the other ‘normal’ components - which would make good sense. It wouldn’t surprise me that the dual mass flywheel may well be a main dealer part only, and may account for around £1K of the parts prices, but I would want to confirm that if it were mine. Other clutch parts may (in caps) be main dealer only, but again I would want that confirmed too. Try Parts in Motion website and input to your registration number and search for clutch and see what comes up. Give them a ring if you have any points to clarify. If you have a choice, then the make you want will be LUK. Can’t get availability at P in M? Google search LUK contact number and try to speak with someone in their technical section - but be armed with your car’s VIN number ( in screen and on V5). Ask them about aftermarket availability. I think it’s well worth doing your homework on this. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. If it transpires all parts are main dealer only, then you might get a bit of discount at Audi Parts Direct - part of Mon Motors, previously Cardiff Audi. They should do mail order. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Ya live and learn magnet...but I got a really really good deal on it..if it lasts a couple of years I'll be happy..was the battery if the stop start working now..what ya reckon mate?
  7. it was good couple of month ago since having the pads done done easy 600 mile on them. i will try the brake from 60 think first but i do alot of motoway driving so could have done this already with out realising i will try it though. ive just gotta wait for a oil breather pipe to come so i can replace that because that has totally snapped apart in to 2 spots and the only place i can find one is latvia so could be a while will keep you updated on the problem . thanks all
  8. It only seems to be the vr6 that shows this fault.
  9. Hi yes spend your money on an OBD Eleven reader then you can look at what you want whenever you want on your phone and not become a victim of overcharging garages, you will be able to tell them what the problem is. Steve.

  11. Hi Gareth The mechanic only had it for a day. He came out to it today and seems to be sorted now. He reckons the crankshaft position sensor was the cause. Thanks for the reply! Martin
  12. Speak up. I can't hear you.
  13. I very much doubt it, unless you go to a breaker's yard which would be more time and effort than finding the original. There can't be that many places for the knob to hide in such a small car.

  15. Hi I got a 2019 Q5 black diesel edition in Jan 2024 and would like to know if the auto handbrake is supposed to engage automatically or not. I have found that sometimes the parking brake engages automatically and sometimes it doesn't. I've taken it to Audi twice now and been given conflicting info stating from one person that the auto handbrake should engage automatically and then another saying i have to manually flick the parking button to get the parking brake to engage. However I have noticed on occasions thst the brake engages itself but its very inconsistent. I've tried leaving the car in drive or reverse and sometimes it auto engages and sometimes it doesn't. I've put the car in park by pressing the P on the gear shift and sometimes it engages the handbrake when i switch off the engine and sometimes it doesnt. We still have a 2014 A3 which has the same buttons and the auto handbrake engages whenever you stop the car and switch off the engine unless you flick the P switch to cancel it. I just feel it either engages or it doesn't engage and keen to find out what anyone else has experienced or if it is a fault which Audi need to find even though they said today that no fault is showing yet the technician drove the car with me and experienced the same as I had explained. Thanks in advance
  16. Try connecting via the usb-c connector near the handbrake (under the cover), I use that with my iphone and always charges and works OK. Not tried using that USB connector myself by the 12v socket under the dashboard area, it might be that is more suited to USB storage as opposed to for charging. As you've an Android phone it might be that its expecting a QC/fast charge port and that may just be a more regular USB port with 5v 2.4A output.

    Fuel

Shell V-Power or Tesco Momentum. If I can't get either I "splash" a few litres of other fuel in until I can load up with either of my two preferred fuels.
  18. Really appreciate the advice, encouragement and film tips - thank you!
  19. Yes it’s a great colour. It was my first choice when I was looking for an 8p many years ago. Couldn’t find the right one and ended up with larva grey … which was my third choice but grew to love it 😂 nice car there rybrook… future classic for sure.
  20. Hi if as Gareth said you invest in a trim removal kit the job is fairly straight forward start at the top and work your way round down the right side, the cover has a push in locking system at the bottom so once the top and sides are free lift the cover up and out, depending on the model some of the covers are glued to the rear lumbar adjustment this can be removed from the metal plate with a bit of persistence and re attached with velcro, heat the plastic with a heat gun but you have to keep the the heat moving whilst pushing gently from the inside with the plastic handle of a screwdriver or similar, did a lot of this with bumpers during the eighties they took a bit of time as they were a lot thicker but the fact is ABS plastic will always try and go back to its moulded shape. PS any clips you need to replace are on Ebay at a tenth of the price from the dealer. Steve.
  21. I’m having the same issues as well mine comes up with these codes. It’s an Audi A4 2010 (Diesel) P123700 - Passive/sporadic - Fuel injector cyl. 1 open circuit P123900 - Passive/sporadic - Fuel injector cyl. 3 open circuit P124000 - Passive/sporadic - Fuel injector cyl. 4 open circuit P123800 - Passive/sporadic - Fuel injector cyl. 2 open circuit P106500 - Active/Static - Fuel Pressure regulation contour difference
  22. audi quoted him £600. initially, and said it may be covered by the warranty, which it was, so a vast saving. (one happy brother) kind regards Brian.
  23. If the build record shows it was built in 2019 Jay, then it was built in 2019 - rather like anyone’s birth certificate. If there are any anomalies then they could be accounted for by component supply issues due to Covid. I think you should now take up any discontents with the selling dealer. Kind regards, Gareth.

  25. So this happened within the first year of your ownership? Which would be less than 5 yrs since the car's first registration date? I ask because you may have some redress here through use of consumer's right act (1st October 2015). Basically you've 5 yrs in Scotland and 6 yrs in England, Wales and NI, through courts to show - using an expert - that the product was faulty all along. I'll try and dig up more info. Audi as with any other manufacturer will deny any fault. You take them to court and they usually buckle before any judgement is passed, as they don't want to make a rod for their back. A gentleman I know of took Apple to court in the UK over a faulty battery on a 5yr mac book. Apple laughed and so they went to court. Said gentleman won the case. Apple now have a rod made regarding laptop batteries. Foote v Apple.
  26. Hi Martyn, I have ordered the wheel and the jack kit, although I havent received them yet. I was wondering which jack did you get, do you have a link to it please? Peter - Do we know for sure the space-saver doesnt fit the front or is it a Chinese whisper getting around as I appreciate Martyn's is a 21 reg but do they change that much?
