Ttrs mk2 oil on top/rear of bell housing
Hi anyone else had a oil leak under the airfilter box around the rear of bell housing (see pics) When i start the car and rev i can't see it leaking from anywhere Does not smell like gearbox fluid so i assume it's engine oil, only thing i can see is the vacuum pump nipple is a bit loose back and forward play but don't know if that would cause this mess 20260710_212435.mp4

Shuddering when accelerating
Hi guys, I’m looking for some insight on my problem. It simply started as I pulled out from a car park, I accelerated maybe a little faster than usual nothing extreme, and all of a sudden I lost power. I pulled up for a minute contemplating my life 😂 then proceeded to try and pull away and managed to do so and get home about a mile away. Now the issue is the car is shuddering under acceleration. If I take it really slow through first gear I can avoid it but I mean really quite slow, then I to second again keeping it very low revs and slow paced but trying to accelerate at a normal pace it will shudder quite bad. This happened a few weeks ago and since it’s been parked up. I did notice a small oil leak on the floor under the gearbox and the gearbox casing is slightly wet. I just not sure if I should be expecting it to be a slipping clutch pack or just low hydraulic pressure due to fluid loss but as I mentioned it happened suddenly just pulling out of a car park. Anyway key information: (multitronic gearbox, CVT, driven 97,000 miles and no record of a gearbox service at all) hope someone has some helpful information

Need help finding N90956803 subframe bolt for Audi A4 B6 1.8
Thanks for clarifying, Gareth. I understand now that your earlier suggestion was specifically about Richard's replacement bolt rather than just any M12 × 1.5 bolt. I've contacted Spareto regarding the original part number to see if they can confirm the exact dimensions and availability. They also stock the longer N90924103 bolt that Richard found, so I'm waiting to hear back from them before deciding which route to take. Thanks again to everyone for the help and suggestions.

Matt black exhaust cleaning product?
Looking for recommendations for a cleaning product for Matt black exhaust pipes on a 2024 rs4 avant. Most products I see are for stainless steel exhausts. I asked in Halfords yesterday but the 2 staff had no idea as never been asked that question before. Thanks in advance!

Radar cruise control issues
It went back to him twice, he thought it was a defective radar unit. So I had that checked by a local specialist that I know & trust, he confirmed it, so new one sourced, Swapped, coded & seperate re-aligned. Still doesn’t play full time. Audi retrofits only works Tues - Thurs most weeks & he’s 120 miles away from me, so a full day, early start & £50 return trip in fuel to get it to him! I am cross to say the least! he professes to fit the Adaptive cruise as a retrofit but it seems his skill & knowledge doesn’t extend to fault finding! But he’s messed this up completely. Went to him on a recommend too. I’m pretty certain the issue is in the wiring loom close to the RH unit, I’m just after any insights into any other connector in the engine bay that side for the radar unit. It’s only 3 cores, so once I get the air filter etc out the way & can get at the entire loom, I can just break into it & do a continuity check on the loom to the pins in the radar unit connector. I’m certain there’s a ‘stretch’ break in it somewhere close to the unit connector, where he disconnected it to remove the number, I just need to prove it then find it, replacing, repairing &/or extending those 3 cores is a simple job once I can get in there.

Audi S3 rear diff
Hi guys. New to the forum but have had VW/Audi for a few years now and have just bought a 2014 S3. Never had a 4wd/quattro before. Got it for reasonable money as there is a noise in the rear which I am pretty sure is the rear diff. Doesn’t seem to be a wheel bearing as noise doesn’t change with change of direction and it seems to get a bit louder when I let off throttle/coast. Again never diagnosed anything with a 4wd system so from reading forums that seems to equate to possibly rear diff. Question is will a rear diff from a same year A3 1.8 FSI Quattro fit? Part numbers are the same and letter at the end is. I intend to drain a little bit of diff oil and see if any metal in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and looking forward to sharing any experiences or knowledge I have along the way.

Rattling noise when accelerating
I have the same 3.0 BiTDI and I too hear the exact same rattling noise. My mechanic said it is normal too but it is really been bothering me. I have tried other V6 cars like Mercedes Benz ML 320 and even though it is a much older car and engine, it sounded smooth. I even bought a new Oil Pressure Control Valve: https://www.csabastefan.com/en/audi-v6-bitdi-cvua-oil-pressure-valve-replacement.php but, having a hard time replacing it because of the very tight space between it and the radiator fans.

Thank you for your great responses. I am still learning the car but have some time in it tomorrow (we are going away for the weekend) so I will try to check how the car responds in the various scenarios you have recorded and let you know.

New member audi a3
Hello Luke, As you say - not a good start - so you don’t know how long he has owned it - if he did have any claim to its ownership. Can we take it you have now received a ‘clean’ V5 in your name? I would treat the 3 month ago service as if it never existed, and as a minimum, I would run an on-line VCheck on the car (cost £9.99) to see what else you don’t know about it, before spending anything on it. Please come back to us when you have more details, and I’m sure we can advise on future servicing. Regards, Gareth. last service

Alloys
Hi Rob, There are some really helpful sites on the internet that can steer you through the minefield of offsets, wheel widths, tyre sizes and profiles www.willtheyfit.com and www.wheel-size.com to name just two, but there are others. They are relatively straightforward and you are asked to specify your current set up and then you can input your favoured sizes and the site will quickly tell you how your favoured sizes will fit and importantly sit on the vehicle. You can input as many size options as we want and as many times as you want, I was over a 12 months trying to find alloys and tyres to fit my S7 and eventually with the help of aforementioned sites I eventually found a set of wheels I liked and that would fit. No spacers, just extra length wheel bolts (from H&S) to accommodate the different offset. The other thing to bear in mind, but on an A6 (not an S6) I think you should be ok, is the physical size of the front brake callipers. For me this was an additional problem. Anyway like you, I wanted alloys that filled my arches, that didn't stick out and didn't look ridiculous. I hope I achieved it, but its very subjective!!! Hope this is helpful & best of luck

SQ5 Overhead Console Dome
In the summer of 2024, I had to contact Audi Assist as an amber light on the dashboard came on. A mechanic came out and installed his diagnostic tool. Initially, the error code was referring to a faulty overhead console dome; however, after clearing the codes, the lights went off, and that was the end of it. This year, another amber light came on, and once diagnosed by Audi, it was found to be a faulty overhead console dome, which now has to be replaced and is getting carried out tomorrow (Wednesday) at a total cost of £970. Do I have a goodwill claim against Audi and if so does anyone know how or who to contact?

A3 Cabriolet cam wiring
Hello people, first post as I'm new to this forum. 2017 A3 Cabriolet and I'd like to fit a dashcam. I've done it in other vehicles but the trim around the top of the screen looks a bit tricky. Any tricks or pointers to stop me buggering up the existing wiring, airbags or trim. I'm tossing up between the Vantrue E1 pro and the Viofo A119 mini. I'd like to hard wire it, but I don't use the 12v socket at the front of the centre console so it's not a biggie if it's not possible.

General article on the rising cost of car ownership
“It is a freedom and a right that all of our constituents should be able to enjoy unencumbered by the state, whether national or local. A weekly shop for a family of five cannot be carried on the back of a bike.” Twenty years ago there would have been no debate. But in Britain’s today, driving even modest cars has become a luxury increasingly out of reach of ordinary people. https://archive.is/1ZcRq My Q5 had a list price of about £42k in 2018. It now seems to be around £56k
