  1. Past hour
  2. I have also read that an S3 exhaust would fit my car as it's the same piping for the most part. Anyone know more about this and if it'd be ok fitting a petrol exhaust to diesel engine? Pretty sure that parts fine if it's from the cat back
  3. I heard it hard to do the discs and pads if I’m honest, it’s just I haven’t done them before and I’ve seen you need an odb11 reader for the rear. I’ll have a look at parts in motion 🙂 thank you very much Gareth

  5. Or indeed a broken-near-end spring, which maybe difficult to see without close examination. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Hello Tony, With any persisting electrical issue, it’s always worth getting the battery efficiency measured to establish whether it’s a contributory cause or not. Perhaps you could let us know whether you acquired the car with that battery, or if you bought it during your (how long?) ownership. Way forward:- take the car to an Halfords store and ask them to check the battery’s efficiency for you. Get the alternator output checked at the same time. If the battery is found to be sub standard, you may want to come back to us, before you buy a replacement from Halfords. My take on it, for what it’s worth:- It wouldn’t surprise me that the battery you have is ‘reconditioned reject’ bought because it was cheap. Please come back with the outcome - as Cliff says.
  7. Had a phone call Friday. They cannot find the problem. He has ordered a second cam chain kit because he thinks the first replacement is faulty. only other thing left is the cam position sensor. I will keep you posted.
  8. Then there's no excuse from them to be honest

  10. Recently changed oil cooler on my 2015 s3 along with the seal (I did accidentally snap a bolt putting the cooler back on) But still getting oil coming up to the expansion tank what could it be 🤔🤔 Have been told my waterpump/ thermostat is leaking, could it be this also? Audi have said its unlikely the headgasket as the ea888 is a pretty bulletproof engine
  11. Osram Nightbreakers are pretty good. A lot my seeing power that’s for sure
  12. I'd recommend getting a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
  13. Is it worth contacting powerflow exhausts to see if they can manufacture one for you?
  14. Hello J - thanks for reminding me to update this! Sadly no information from the dealership except "nothing wrong with it now, no sign of water going into something it shouldn't, some spurious errors about the camera system in the diagnostics, cleared the errors and please come back if it happens again"... Would be interested to know what your diags come back with. I don't have the capability to do them myself, but I am thinking of investing in a scanner and learning how to do things like that. cheers, Mike
  15. Hi its no good playing chase the ace with fitting random parts in the hope of curing a problem you need a diagnostic scan to pinpoint the problem. Steve.
  16. hi I have a audi a4 2009 b7. for the last few months there has been a rhythmic thudding noise from air box on idle (driving me nuts!) the power is also slight decreased. it has been in local garage but they couldn't find an issue. I have changed EGR valve, MAF sensor, did a DPF region, oil+filter, air filter and engine carbon clean but still hasn't fixed the issue. it has 70,000 miles the car. if anyones got any ideas on what to try next please let me know! Cheers
  17. Mine failed and my Audi Service partner has told me that they are keeping the records and have confirmed to me in writing that my car has an extended warranty on this part for 7 years from the date of registration. It is covered as long as they do the work.
  18. Hey, sorry I don’t know the answer but how hard was fitting the car play?
  19. 2.0 TDI is belt driven as far as I'm aware. My A6 is anyway 👍
  20. Hi Steve, many thanks for your reply I will book it in when I am back home. To be honest I have lost faith in my local dealership. I bought this car from another dealership at 6 months old but they have been the only ones to service it etc. I had a service plan with them from the start, had the cam belt changed by then etc etc. two and a half years ago I had a major service by them and mot. On the service report it stated the rear discs and pads required replacing and both rear tyres were cracked and one was starting to perish quoting over £1500 to do this work, but no advisories on the mot. To date the car has only done 26000 miles and I had new tyres fitted (not by them) at 18000 miles. Not happy with this I took the car to the local bus depot for an mot it passed with no advisories, and it also passed the second mot since their service no advisories, so wary of getting a true diagnosis
  21. Hello Dave, Tank capacity is 54 litres by what I understand, so you a work out how much it will cost to fill the tank - based on the cost/ltr. in your area for the fuel brand you choose. Hopefully you will get responses to question (2) which will allow you to work out the answer to question (3). Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Hi Sam You could try Autologics. I had a R.V. Camera fitted by them on a A6 I had. Really good, quick and tidy installation. Tony
  23. Hi all, The dealership I bought my RS4 from is already dropping the ball on servicing and other items (e.g. fixing chips glass, which was supposed to be done before I took it home). Are there any performance traders/garages you trust in the South East (London, Surrey, Kent)? Initially, for servicing, but ultimately for everything else. I'd like to go with an approved dealership for the stamps, but I'm not prepared to give my readies to a firm who are to date incredibly underwhelming. Love to get some suggestions!

  25. So here it is .... the final update, firstly I must say I completely underestimated how old or dirty gearbox oil could effect these DL-501 gearboxes, even though it had been changed twice at Audi Main Agents with receipts the last one was around the 60,000 mile mark so at 120,000 miles in 2024 I knew it was time for a complete service anyway, and was well aware Audi themselves do NOT remove the underside bracing bar in order to drop the complete sump unit and replace magnets, Inner large filter box, new gasket, all new hex screws and washers etc: Audi just remove the small outer cylindrical filter and drain the oil and replace without dropping the sump, not what I wanted or what I thought my S-Tronic gearbox needed at this point in time. I did the full service using the complete MEYLE kit and correct 7 litres of oil, PLUS while I was at it we drained and refilled the HALDEX unit even though this oil appeared very clean. Then I ordered a new VCDS Hex + V2 cable and downloaded the new May 2024 directive VCDS software direct from the Ross Tech website ........ After running gearbox up to +40 degrees Temperature I then did a full gearbox adaption with Clutch wear alignment, Kiss Points, Clutch 1 & 2 pressure values etc etc: The result ? ....... a car that no longer jerks and shudders ( albeit minor) from 2nd to first change downs, no longer any yellow gearbox Fault mode or "reverse not possible" messages, it no longer slips out of gear in reverse or struggles in reverse on an incline, in fact its silky smooth once more, I think I was lucky, I caught it the first time a problem showed, and even when it did occur you could turn the car off and on again and it would drive fine for any number of miles again until the next time ...... So that's it, a complete service both externally and the filter and gasket internally along with a full adaption with latest software worked for me, the full service kit was approx £140.00, I borrowed a friends ramp at his garage ( £20.00 bottle of wine ) bought a new V2 cable for £200.00 ( which I will use again and again anyway ) and downloaded the latest software for Free online at Ross Tech. I can only guess at what this would have cost at a Main Stealer or an Audi independent, Yes I know my way around a set of spanners and wrenches, but equally there are videos online and at You Tube with people doing this on their driveways and with very basic skills, its not hard, it is a little messy and you do need to dispose of your waste oil and filters correctly and in an environmental way, but its all doable with not a lot of money and with walk through tutorials online, I'm just glad to have my A7 back driving as it should ....... Good luck to all of you, it worked wonders on mine, and I really never expected it too, but this time I was lucky, if you do experience a problem don't leave it, at the very least do a FULL gearbox service, and don't cut corners, the MEYLE service kit really is one of the best, everything fits perfectly first time and its just not worth saving a pounds for an inferior cheaper kit, IMO anyway. Thanks again and I hope this may have been of some help to other members.😀
  26. Hi the car runs better during a regen as the EGR is shut off [no exhaust gas] they all do, I would recommend a full diagnostic scan before condemning anything. Steve.
  27. Hello, whoever you are, Can you please take a little bit of your time to complete your profile properly. Thank you.
  28. Hello David, Fingers crossed all will be well. Perhaps you can update us once the job has been finished. Kind regards, Gareth.
