  2. Hi ring the dealers and ask if your car was fitted with stop start, you will have to give them your VIN and if its not equipped with stop/start you are away, only piece of advice is buy branded and not some random make of battery that is dirt cheap and won't last long, the battery will need to be registered to let the ECU know it has a new battery. Steve.
  3. Hi yes but the new module would have to be coded to the car, try and find a local car audio specialist who will be able to offer a hybrid solution rather than get in to major removal of the existing unit. Steve.
  4. Hi, this maybe a sill question!!! I need to change my Battery in my 60 plate Audi A3, the guy in the shop said there is 2 types, one for stop start car and a one without (big difference in price). My car dosent seem to have stop start, because it dosent do it!! But the guy in the shop says it can turn itself off!!! There is nothing on the current battery to say its a stop start battery !!! Guy in shop says if you use a standard one in a stop start in can effect the ecu, so some functions wont work correctly.... Any help would be appreciated...

  6. Hi sounds like the Haldex unit in the rear diff is on its way out this would put the car in to limp as its controlled electronically by a module. Steve.

  8. Hi at a guess you have no subscription to the emergency call system its just their way of badgering you in to subscribing again, try having the car scanned to remove it, if its anything like my Passat I had to delete it a couple of times and they now have the general idea, not subscribing so it has not ever come back in over a year. Steve.

  20. Welcome Don, My first port of call would be to return the car to whoever carried out the front end bodywork. If both horns were working prior to this then it’s reasonable for you to expect them both to work now - unless one was damaged - at which point it should have been renewed. Believed each to be behind the spotlights (if fitted) or the plastic grilles if not. Regards, Gareth.
  21. I know the op might not be here anymore, but for others here: I recently had the chance to drive two identical specked 2024 A3’s, both built within a month of each other with identical speck, 1.5tfsi DSG, with very similar mileage. The only difference was one was running a set of new Bridgestone Potenza Sport, the other was on a new set of new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. Both were on 235/35R19 V91 After driving for over a month on different road conditions both cars, the difference in tires was quite noticeably different. The Goodyear were noticeably quieter and felt more comfortable on our rough UK pot holed roads, the Bridgestones by comparison felt harsher and noticeably noisier, handling wise, not that they were pushed to their extreme, the Bridgestone felt better cornering in the dry, but I personally preferred the Goodyear in the wet on the bends. I was not expecting to notice much difference between the two, but a difference of tire brand made the cars feel completely different to drive on a daily basis, the Goodyear were far better for me.

  23. Hi, One of the horns on my 2015 is not working. Just had some front end body work completed so maybe one got disconnected. Do I have to pull the bumper to service them? Please tell me there is an easy way to maybe remove some covers. Thanks, Don
  24. Hi, My 2015 A3 has about 15,000 miles on it. Ever since I got it about 6 years ago I notice a faint coolant odor after a drive. Never had to add coolant. Someone told me that is common with this engine. Doesn’t really bother me, just annoying. I replaced the reservoir’s cap with no success. Appreciate any suggestions. TIA

  26. Unfortunately the 2 websites given do not help. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I have tried ebay and the devices available are not suitable for my version of MMI. Is it possible to exchange the MMI module for one out of a British car?

  30. Not much to go on. The only thing back there is the rear diff. Any signs of weeping? Any sides lower such as broken spring? Suspect limp mode is not related to clunk at the back. Ideally you need to hook up with VCDS to scan and see what error codes are logged. Limp mode is protecting engine, so could be anything, turbo actuator, blocked DPF. Any warning lights, smell or anything else that's odd to throw onto the mix?
  31. Thanks. Mine has heated seats but not the wheel.
  32. Hi mark my audi a8l 2007 had heated steering and seats.
  33. Mark. Sorry to disappoint you but the days of Audi being a prestige brand have gone. It is now just another run of the mill manufacturer cutting costs at every opportunity to retain market share in a world where Chinese manufacturers are making huge inroads as a result of their better specifications and lower prices. Regarding tyre pressures, they are dictated by car weight, suspension resilience, power output, and top speed, not size, so it isn't surprising they differ from the Ford.
  34. Dear All, Hello to all members and contributors. By means of introduction, I thought I would share my views as a brand new Audi owner. For context, for the past 12 years or so I have owned new Ford Focuses (Foci?!), 2x top Spec Focuses, and 2x Focus STs with Sport Pack. The recent demise of the Focus/Focus ST has prompted migration to the Audi S3 to extend my mid-life crisis! I don't want this to turn into a list of complaints about my new car, so don't get me wrong, the new Audi S3 drives like a dream and the ride and quality are great. However, as a motorist that has gone from a "non-prestige" Ford to a "prestige" Audi, I would really appreciate views and opinions on some things I have noticed. These are: The Speed Limiter does not permit you to limit the speed automatically to the Speed Limit. For the past 12 years, the focuses all did this as standard. It seems an obvious option for the SPEED LIMITer to restrict speed to the SPEED LIMIT by default. The car has all of the pre-requisite technology (traffic sign recognition, automatic braking and acceleration and adaptive cruise assist). I know that Adaptive Cruise Assist can be used to match the car to the speed limit, but the Speed Limiter is a different function that is very useful in unfamiliar surroundings where the next speed camera is just around the corner! There is no Valet mode - the Fords all had this option. There is no heated steering wheel. I know we are having a heat wave, but the STs both had this as standard for the winter months! I would much rather Audi focused on functional items such as this rather than flashy matrix headlights and interior lighting. There is no front windscreen de-frost. I understand this is a proprietary Ford function, but I would have thought that Audi might have addressed this in the 12 years plus that Ford have offered it. I was surprised by the standard tyre pressures of 42/39 F/R PSI. The ST had the same tyres and were 35/35 F/R PSI. Does anyone know the reason for the difference please? I would be really interested to hear the views of experienced Audi enthusiasts. I am really enjoying my new Audi, but some "closure" on the above points would enhance my driving experience even more! It would be even better if any Audi Technicians/Engineers are around to offer their views! Many thanks all, and I look forward to hearing for you. With Best Wishes, Mark.
