Fac51 started following Front wheel bearing swap
-
Need some advice, hopefully someone can help. Today tried changing the front wheel bearing but didn't get very far. The issue is that one of the torx retaining bolts on the inside of the wheel bearing housing is partially obscured by the driveshaft and it's impossible to get straight at the head of the bolt. I'm sure someone on here managed a workaround. Cheers

MADBrown started following headlamp adjustment for European driving

We are taking our A3 Convertible 2017 (facelift) to France in a few weeks and I am unable to find out if the headlamps auto adjust (as they do on our 2022 A4). I have found some info which suggests that this is dependent on whether they are LED or Xenon with turning lights. However, this info also refers to an adjuster found in the vehicle settings in the MMI. I have checked, and there is nothing in the MMI. A/Will the lights auto adjust? B/ If not, do they need to be adjusted by a dealer, or is it possible to put headlamp deflectors on. If anyone has experience with this, please let me know. Thanks for your help.

Time you learnt some patience. It has been less than a day since you posed the question. If you get no reply after three or four days it would reasonable to assume none will be forthcoming. 53 views does not equate to 53 people able and willing to help.

Has the door been removed or damaged? If so, it would be worth looking for some misalignment of the hinges or lock hasp. If that aspect is fine then I suspect the lock inside the door is defective.

Lets have another go. Hi I have an Audi A4 2006 Convertible B7 it has an Audi Concert B7 soul currently in place. I recently purchased an Android 13 for an Audi A4 S4 RS4 2002-2008 Wireless 7 inch. I attempted to fit it this last weekend but I was unable to get it to fit. Does anybody out there in the Audi wilderness now which one would fit or why the one mentioned didn't.

Great Forum this. I was always under the impression that forums are to help each other 53 views but not one reply!

Andy Dodson started following USB stick to play music on the MMI?
-
Hi All Hopefully some one will already have tried and found the answer to this question. We have recently bought a Q5 with Tech pack pro. This includes a B&O sound system. We are having a bit of bother getting our I phones to stay connected so I wondered if a USB memory stick with music on could be a music source? ( We are also having a bit of bother getting connected to the UTR system, but that will be another post). I believe I have read elsewhere that the system does allow for this and will play back FLAC files. If so, what file system should be used when formatting the USB drive? Perhaps it doesn't matter? Look forward to your replies and sorry if it has been asked before. Andy

I'm also concerned about leaving it too long I'm assuming wherever the oil is coming from is going ro run out at some stage
-
I'm quite comfortable removing a drive shaft it is something I have done before and I have the tools from last time I did it , I was just wondering where the leak is likely to be from in that area, it's not from a boot as there is too much and I believe it would be grease rather than oil.
-
Hello Joe, Are you intending to do this job yourself? If you are, you first need to confirm that it is actually a driveshaft seal that is the issue. I would not characterise this as an easy repair for DIYing, so you would need to ensure you have all the necessary equipment and experience to do this yourself. If you intend to get a garage to do it, then I would work on the principle of ‘ I have an undetected oil leak that aI need eliminating - can you first locate it and give my a cost to rectify it’? Kind regards, Gareth.

onewinger started following Rear Door Soft Close & Front Seat Movement
-
Hi all - 2 issues (unrelated) .... Rear RH side door - Door does not seem to "latch" fully when closed and soft close does not engage (Door will ONLY close fully with some force, but will then open slightly ajar when driving as if it is not fully shut). Only cure is to close the door fully, lock and then leave for a few hours before it will then stay shut while travelling . Passenger front seat movement motors - forward & back, recline forward & back all work fine. Up & Down will not work and stuck in fully UP position. VCDS not throwing any errors for either issue ..... I am a bit stumped !2018 4K 50TDi model. Any ideas? TIA

The screen came back on once I put the Telephone fuse back in - so no further forward. I used VCDS and removed the telephone from the list of devices installed in the car, which is weird it was there since I don't have a phone. Received my MMI screen today, used from a 2009 car. I have the bronze gears, so I think I'll put those on the mechanism since it's put of the car. I think I'll tackle that at the weekend. Thanks for the encouragement. I have no idea how my current screen is mounted to the dash, it seems to be stuck at the top underneath of the dash. This should be fun..

Shattered sunroofs are heard of on the q7. Not heard about it in the q5 now.

Does the light not unscrew from underneath? Find it odd you'll have to remove the spoiler as thatll probably be bonded on.

Buying help from Sicily - C5 2.5 Tdi AKE Avant Tiptronic

Good plan. No real hints or tips to be honest, just be on top of maintenance 🙂 I'm not too clued up on Bluetooth dongles to be honest. You could always look at an aftermarket head unit with Bluetooth l, android auto etc. -
It's not clutch or brake fluid the levels are too high , it's not coolant or screenwash like I said its wet around the drivers side drive shaft and steering rack its high up near the drive shaft so I don't know if it's squirting up from the rack or coming out of the drive shaft area/ gearbox I've not had any experience with manual gearbox oil so I'm not sure . It's defo some kind of oil

How hot is hot? Yes all discs will become warm or even hot if used a lot, but being too hot to touch is too vague an indication of temperature to say whether something is wrong. However you said you can smell the brakes so I suggest that indicates excessive rubbing.

rotis23 started following A4 B7 2006 convertible roof stuck open keytool not working
-
Hi all, A4 B7 2006 2.0TDI convertible So, I've had this one for a few years now and the roof has always been a bit temperamental (as they are) - so I'm used to occasionally using the manual keytool to open or close when required. However, - Been using the auto roof ok for last few weeks since the weather has improved - no problems - Decided to wash it for first time in a very long while - with roof up and then with roof down - no idea if this has any relevance - no water with roof down - Roof would then not go up so tried to use manual release keytool but didn't work - The keytool is not releasing the convertible top (after being closed down) - it feels blocked or jammed - the key not locating fully and there is some play one the red part of the tool is tightened - although there is a bit of play. I know how this works as have used it many times. So presumably either a mechanical jam or a controller/sensor issue. So - with keytool engaged the two latches are not releasing. The only post I have seen related to this for a B7 is where the rear windows were not down fully - and this not allowing the manual keytool to be used. Any ideas on what to do next. The emergency aint working. Guess I'm lucky the weather is ok for next couple days 😕 Thanks in advance. rotis23

All work done by Audi dealers will have been recorded on a central database, so even if you bought the car from one garage and serviced it at another any modification should have been recorded. Logically then, either this special chip does not exist and the garage is mistaken, or the chip does exist and has been fitted by a non Audi garage.

Brake fluid? Clutch fluid? Coolant? Screenwash fluid?
-
I would have thought that discs would have some heat after driving , this is normal brake friction .
