This could get complicated and confused, so let's clarify some of the terminology involved before going any further. [1] The charger is always, without exception, within the car. It is the inverter that transforms 230 volt AC to 400 volts DC (or 800 volts in some new cars) plus associated electronics for control purposes. [2] The equipment you plug into the car is called in the industry an EVSE or a charge point. It is either [a] a slow charge 230 volt AC electrical power supply plus electronics to communicate with the car, or [b] a fast charge 400 volts DC electrical supply that bypasses the car's charger and goes straight to the battery, plus electronics to communicate with the car. See what I mean about complicated? Having got that out of the way, the fact you can charge at home on 230 volts AC means the car's charger is working. My questions then are whether the motorway charge point was a slow (230 volt AC) one or a fast (400 volt DC) one, and whether you were using your own charging cable or one fixed (tethered it's called in the industry) to the charge point? Answers to those questions may help us point to the fault.

So I am not hearing the noise as much now, not 100% sure if they just applied some from of lubrication onto the brakes (or onto the bushes etc if they were bs'ing etc), the only thing they mentioned from the health check I got was that eventually over the next while the pads need to be done but from checking they still have a good bit left on them so honestly its the first time like Steve has mentioned I have ever heard that.

It charges at home fine, seems to be just the motorway ones. When I first had the issue I used the charger and it flashed yellow so I moved the car and luckily for me another e-tron took the spot and charged fine so makes me believe its the car thats the issue and not the charger. I've tried that and they said to contact the dealer for rejection to which they won't accept it. Not sure on what I can do now.

Are the sensors turned on when your approaching the wall? They only activate when you put the car in reverse or if you push the button to turn them on, then they should stay active until your forward speed is over 4mph(ish)

My bet would be the alarm too. The only way to find it would be to trave the wires from the fusebox. This should be obvious as they'll look different to the rest of the stock loom. Unfortunately these aftermarket alarms can be a problem. If you get a chance watch the old top gear challenge with the 3 series convertibles. Hamonds one had a similar problem.

You'll need a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up but my guess would be a failed sensor or failing module

I've had the car (97 Cabriolet) off the road for a few months as it needed a few bits and pieces doing. Knowing it was going to be sat I removed the battery and kept it dry stored and hooked up to a trickle charge with protector, diagnostics, etc. It was an almost new Yuasa so I expect it to be fine and the indicator shows it's all good. Last night I dropped it back in the car, turned the key and apart from all the dashboard lights coming on, nothing happened. Not even an attempt at a crank. I put the charger on, left it overnight expecting it to be fine this morning. What I didn't do was disconnect it from the car... Now, the battery seems to have less voltage than it did yesterday, which leads me to believe something is draining the battery whilst the car is parked. I'd suspected this before it came off the road too... As part of what I was doing I'd already disconnected the stereo and powered seats, so I know it's not those. My guess is the aftermarket Cobra alarm (an old version of their "basic" alarm) - what I don't know is where the module is, where it's likely to be connected or how to go about disconnecting it. Can anyone point me to places it might be hidden? Thanks

Thanks Steve - for some reason I remember the cover being bigger. Either way the garage hasn't replaced that small cover and are emailing me telling me my car never had one. I never have a good experience with Audi garages! -

This is a brand new car so I'd be going back to the dealer to get it checked or even ask if they will let you try their demo car to find out if it's the same as yours. It's under warranty so I'd be doing that before I started paying money to see if there was a fault. I owned a B9 A5 coupe 35 TFSI which was detuned to 150bhp and it was terrible. If I tried to accelerate quickly it would shift into neutral, rev away then eventually select a gear and go. It was just so restricted that I had to let it go. I changed to a B9 A5 coupe 40 TFSI and the difference was like night and day. Much more responsive and quicker. I now have a 2024 A4 Avant and find this again different to the A5. It's still as quick but depending on your speed you sometimes have to wait a few seconds for the turbo to spool up before it does anything, other times it will accelerate quickly right away. The energy harvesting for the mild hybrid is more what I'd expect in an EV as it will slow the car down very quickly.

Hello Tony, Further to the PM you sent me. Your video doesn’t work on my system. If all the entries in the service book are supported by invoices rather than card payment receipts then I would be less suspicious of lack of a business stamp for each of the service book entries. You tell me - in effect- you aren’t experienced enough to form a decision yourself. If I was in your position I wouldn’t entertain proceeding with any deal without having an independent examination of the car. Regards, Gareth.

Thanks for getting back to me. Was planning on getting it booked in this week to get it checked. Got in the car today and put in reverse and then all of a sudden the sensors worked for like 2 seconds. I'm guessing a loose wire somewhere

Hi. So got a full vcds on it and it came up with 0567 terminal 15 009 open or short to ground. After alot off looking Internet and in the car. Found the relay responsible link was extremely helpful https://car-box.info/audi/a6/c6-2004-2011.html#sect2.3 used to find it. was a bit of a bugger to locate.
