RS7 Steering issues
After I purchased the car, I noticed the cars alignment was out so went back to Audi to get it fixed. They confirmed it was slightly out of alignment and they had fixed it. Other than that no other work has been done to the car. Only got it about 5/6 weeks ago

RS7 Steering issues
The change to steering alignment would have been felt immediately at the steering wheel. That the feel changed some weeks later means something else is causing the problem. Power steering should always reduce as the speed rises in order to retain the "feel" or resistance to steering input. It sounds to me as if that reduction is not happening, so unless you can correlate some other alteration to the car to time of the light steering as Gareth suggests, I suspect a control fault that needs electronic diagnosis. I don't know if OBDeleven would do the job. VCDS is the usual recommendation for a fully functional code reader amongst those who know about these things. As a side note can I ask why you changed the alignment? It is normally only done after a tyre change, new suspension parts, or a crash.

Adblue no start in 600 miles - caused by battery
Thanks Karl for that useful information. It is worth noting that modern cars are extremely sensitive to the electrical power supply which needs to be stable under all load conditions. Dying batteries can often start the engine normally yet cause a variety of electronic faults such as loss of automatic stop/start function, and false warning messages on the dashboard, amongst others. Even top quality batteries can need to be replaced after five years.

Help needed - SQ5 First Edition Audio fault message.
That sounds like the old Windows solution to all problems: turn it off, then turn it on again and hope for the best. Fingers crossed it works in your case.

Adblue no start in 600 miles - caused by battery
Hello I am not asking for help, but I thought I would share what resolved an issue on my A6 2015 2L TDI Ultra. 2 years ago, I first got this same issue. My local garage couldn't find any error codes with their ODB reader, a Snapon one I think, so they recommended that I take it to Audi! Audi told me it was the Adblue pump and after just under £1500 spondoolies later I was back on the road, feeling skint. Roll on 2 years, I am driving home from Heathrow, wiped out from Jet lag, and 3 miles from home, boom, the same alert pops up. Audi are booked out for 5 weeks, so I started googling, and decided to go for a VCDS connector from RossTech, which I bought from Gendan Ltd, great service from them. Connected it up and ran a scan, but nothing specific came up for Adblue issues. It did say that my battery was low on power and failing! Googled a bit more and found low battery voltage can cause these types of no start errors, as the sensors and pump are very voltage sensitive. It also said it can cause other minor issues. I also had a problem where the automatic handbrake wouldn't come one and other niggly things, which I just put down to bugs in Audi software. So I bought a new battery, used VCDS to code it to the car so BEM would reset, cleared the remaining error codes, reset Adblue modules and took it for a drive. After an hour, the alert was still on the dash. Feeling despondent, I started heading home and 5 mins later, the warning had gone, fault clear and I am good to go. It just needed an extra long drive for the ECU to clear the fault. So just a heads up, its not always a £700 part to replace, beware of failing batteries, £180 for a new one, phew! Going to use the VCDS to tweak a few things now like disabling the stop start always on pain in the !Removed! feature.

Thanks Abeer, Before we get into more complex paths of modules etc. what else has been renewed on the car in recent times - however insignificant or unconnected it might seem? Regards, Gareth.

Electric tailgate strut
I think part number is 8W8827851E. Personally I’d avoid EBay and order something from Autodoc. Makes including Bugiad (Germany), and Stabilus which I think is OE. They are £250 per strut. You will probably have to go to relearn mode once fitted and sync them.

S3 8V woes
Normally the ‘o’ ring. The mating surface on the sump needs to be clean. I’ve seen this job done before with a vacuum without draining the oil. Lightly lube new oil sensor seal with fresh oil, and nip up bolts. Don’t quote me, but think only 10Nm.

Makes a bit more sense now Abeer. 22 inch on an S3!

Yes that is correct. I think what is putting you off is the fact that I have Audi s3 8v on as the vehicle in my description bit? And yes they are 22inch wheels on my rs7

Many thanks Abeer, Am I wrong in interpreting your description, that you have 22? inch wheels on the car? Regards, Gareth.

Hello Neil, Just viewed your second (now hidden) response to my comments. You continue to reign derogatory comments on Cliff, and you ask me not to ‘un-hide’ your latest missive. This ask is an unfair request on my judgement, so sorry not on. I really sympathise with your situation Neil, and I wish you good luck. Regards, Gareth.

RS7 Steering issues
Hello Gareth, Appreciate your response. Do you not think if it was the alignment I would have noticed the difference closer to when it was done? Regarding the tyre pressure they are all up to the guidelines from Audi and i checked these as soon as i felt the difference. The tread seems to be pretty consistent on all 4 also. It’s got the Ventus Stevo3 22s on.

Help needed - SQ5 First Edition Audio fault message.
Update. The master tech from Poole Audi phoned this afternoon saying all done and I will be able to pick it up in the morning. I asked what work was done to fix the fault and was just told a total reboot 🤔. But assured me it has sorted it. Guess I will just have to see for myself but I hope it has sorted it. As for a goodwill gesture, I can only hope 🤔

RS7 Steering issues
Hello Abeer, Cutting into this thread, I begin to think that the wheel alignment alteration may well represent the point of change of this car’s handling, unless that chronology doesn’t stack up. ‘Tyres not changed ..’ What brand of tyres are on each axle? Is the amount of tread even on both tyres on each axle? What tyre pressures are you running, and have these been checked (when cold) against Audi’s recommended pressures? Be aware, the increase in running pressures ( over cold set) will not be insignificant in these high ambient temperatures. Regards, Gareth.

Hi, i havent had the tyres changed recently. I did have the alignment done over 5 weeks ago. Is an OBDeleven fine ? There are no faults showing on the dash

RS7 Steering issues
Have you changed the tyres recently, or had the steering alignment altered? If not the car needs to be diagnosed on a decent code reader.

Although Neil’s latest response has currently been hidden, I am of the view that it should be displayed so other members are aware of the reaction we receive when asking members who seek information to simply return with some meaningful answers to a aid the help they ask for. It does seem that despite the request ‘All new members please read…’, there still remains an element of - I will ask a question, but I will choose whether I will acknowledge help given, or indeed answer any questions which might help others to help me. Simply not on! Regards, Gareth.

RS7 Steering issues
Hi all, Ive got an rs7 c8 and recently a few days ago i noticed my steering feeling abnormally light. Even when changing into dynamic/RS mode it feels the same and doesnt stiffen up like it used to when I bought it a couple weeks back. Feels like Im losing control at higher speeds and just feels abnormal If im being honest. Wondering if anyone has experienced something like this before. I did go to my local audi and raised the concern they checked the shocks suspension alignment etc and said they couldnt see any issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Manual gearbox - trouble selected 1st or 2nd gear
Fair enough Mike. A new clutch and DMF is always expensive. Bearing in mind that low mileage and short journeys in a diesel is inviting expensive DPF blockages it is time to consider changing the car. A petrol car is better suited to short journeys, as is an electric car depending on your circumstances and seating requirements.
