Hello! Of course, it’s a Bank Holiday Monday and we have a long (>250 miles) and the glow plug light starts flashing in the 2008 A6 Le Mans that we bought just a week ago. The car is in semi limp mode and can eventually get to 60mph but I am concerned about doing damage to the car. We are going to stop in Lancaster which appears to have a National Tyres & Auto Care centre which is open. Fingers crossed that they can do a diagnostic. If not, we are wondering if it’s going to damage the engine if we keep on going to the South Coast….

lil_eddie started following Capless Fuel Neck wont let Petrol Nozzle in - cannot refil
-
Hi, Regarding my 2019 A7 55 TFSI. I had this strange issue when going to refil yesterday, the fuel nozzle went in fine, but the pump wasnt working so i took it out and tried another one, but the nozzle simply would not push in this time. Tried another petrol station too same issue. (googling this just comes up with some diesel pumps having petrol nozzles, but my car IS petrol!) I got home and had a look inside, it seemed that a metal ring that should be sat around the edge of the plastic door/valve part had popped off and was overlapping the valve itself so it wouldnt move/blocked the nozzle from going further. Its impossible to move it back to the right place due to plastic in the way, but i moved it as far as i could. I then used a plastic nozzle from the boot to see if it was better but still not, so I gave it a bit of a wiggle to see if the nozzle could correct the metal ring further but then the whole anti syphon valve seemed to come loose and fall inwards, i can get a nozzle in now but suspect it will cause me issues refilling being in the way still (not tried). I only have 10 miles of fuel left too. Just to be clear, the METAL door on the tank is fine. This is just the internal plastic valve that seems to have got stuck. Photos attached. Has anyone ever experienced this in any audi? Is removing the valve going to be an easy enough task?

I need some help, I have a 2004 as and the oil filler neck has snapped off the rocker cover, phoned audi they said that part was discontinued back in 2022, I've tried ebay and Facebook no one seems to have 1 available any advice???
-
It’s lowered approx 25mm on Racingline springs. As for the ride, it’s definitely firmer, I would say it’s bearable in most conditions, however on rough/bumpy country roads it gets a bit annoying (might just be me showing my age though lol) I’m sure with shortened, uprated shocks the ride becomes a bit more compliant, however I’m going to hold out and save up for some bilstein b16’s. Really fancy being able to soften them to my preference.
-
Nice’ how much is it lowered and how does it ride on the new springs?

Should Audi give free counselling to owners buying spares.
RoynJess replied to Stevey Y's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
Well now, its true, some Audi spares are relatively expensive and some are outrageously expensive. Also true is there is often a supply issue, (not in stock) and despite clicking the (let me know when in stock) link, no stock remains the default situation. I am told by an reliable Audi main dealer that Audi are not the best at releasing parts specifications for aftermarket suppliers. As an Audi owner who won't buy any other manufacturer it is very frustrating. Recently replaced my complete clutch including dual mass flywheel, in my A6 C7 Avant 2016 reg, with gritted teeth off i went to my local main dealer who kindly gave me aprx 10% discount. All directly supplied parts were LUK. But wow, Audi don't make it easy for owners to do their own repairs. Mammoth task to even take the gearbox out. Quotes for the job errrrrrrrrr yes. But a few said (no we can't do) others only offering an estimate with (can't give an exact quote) dealer saying its a two day job. So, overalls on, i got on with it. Time not an issue being retired and not needing the car every day, (bus pass at the ready) Impromised " the special tools" needed. Job done. -

Hi folks. I have just bought a 2022 A6 Saloon Black Edition and the vehicle spec tells me it has the Ambient Lighting pack. When I go into the Car settings and select ‘Background lighting’, it only gives the option to adjust the brightness, not to change colours or themes. Any ideas as to what to do here?

Hi AdamLa, I am having the same exact issue as you've described on my A3 2017. Car has never gone into limp mode though, I've been on the motorway at normal speeds with the light flashing the entire journey. But as you've described, car turned off at work and restarted 4+ hours later on the way back from work - doesnt illuminate. Next morning it does illuminate again. Although heavy acceleration always seems to bring it up whatever the conditions. Fault code is Oil Pressure Switch related. Did you manage to fix the problem and what did you need to do? Was it simply changing the switch? Please please tell me it was an easy fix 😁

Hi Guys New to this forum having just bought a 2ltr TDI Avant. Unfortunately the high pressure power steering hose from pump to steering rack is leaking. Would somebody be able to advice where i might get a replacement and what the origlnal part number would be. I can see that i will have to invest in a service manual. What do people suggest?

Hi I was looking for some advise in regards to the stronic gearbox’s I’ve had some problems with a friend of mine it has already had the metronic unit replaced prior to purchasing but recently the car had started crunching in to get then gradually got worse and the other day stopped selecting gears then would work again after a while. Changed the gearbox oil today used genuine oil upon draining the old oil out there was very minimal oil in it would say about 100ml. After changing the oil I went to to test the vehicle and it still has the same fault where I will drive it will select 1st 2nd and 3rd gear fine then it will increase speed go to change in to 4th then the gearbox light will come on and it will stick in first gear then pull over switch off and on again then it is fine but then will repeat the same fault any advise on what to check or change next would be appreciated. I do have a suspicion that it could have completely ruined the gearbox driving it with next to no oil in but if there’s anything cheaper to check before getting in to replacing the box I will happily give it a go. Thanks in advance

Stevey Y started following Relay rear wiper
-
Hi Wayne I don't think its the relay it is most likely the motor, because they are a cr@p design and fail frequently over the 190k I had the car I went through three rear motors all with different symptoms of failure, constant running, parking of wiper arm in multiple positions, no wiper at all, this is due to water ingress in to the control box PCB, never changed the relay ever, but if you use reverse logic if it works why is the relay at fault, most common symptoms of relay failure are, intermittent function or no function at all. Steve.

Hi lads long story short I have a 2005 gti with a Cdl engine from a 8p s3. Recently my car has developed a misfire on cylinder 4 only it’s accompanied with these following codes p0300 multiple missfire, p0304 cylinder four missifre ,p1093 bank 1 fuel measuring system 2 malfunction. Cars gotten new pcv, coil packs, spark plugs, intake manifold was cleaned + valves from carbon, new n80 valve + the lines that run into the manifold, fuel filter, cam follower. All these things weren’t too long ago either only a few months. Car has switchable maps, 320bhp. I’ve also done a compression test ( cold ) 190 on all cylinders and 186 on cylinder 1. I feel like I’m missing something as I can’t figure out what is wrong with it. The missfire was inconsistent and started at high Rpms under load and then developed into constant to a point now where it sounds like a rotary. Epc and engine light flashes. I’m Gona bring it in to a shop this week but thought I’d ask here to see if anyone ever had similar problems.

No lights on dash ,but thanks for replying -
I unknowingly had the opportunity to get it remapped for free when I got the adblue deleted but I asked the question too late but according to the guy it would have put power up to 225bhp and increased the torque and he reckoned it would have improved the economy by up to 10mpg over standard
-
Hi Gareth Thanks for your reply while gearbox is out may as well do everything I’m really surprised i didnt get any warning signs whatsoever it pulled well in all gears, gear change was always smooth and quiet still it is what it is just got to get on with it now
-
Hello David, Whatever component within the clutch assembly is at fault, it obviously means gearbox out to find the offender, be it from the release bearing/ concentric clutch, to the DM flywheel - or pressure plate or driven plate in between - all won’t be revealed until it is disassembled. Regrettably, but to be expected, it would not make sense just to renew the offending part, so a full assembly sounds ominous. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. I would advise only using quality parts - e.g. LUK, although aftermarket DMFs can be difficult to find as aftermarket on some models. Keep your fingers crossed it’s not a main-dealer-only part on yours.
