‘06 A3 S-Line front end creeking noise

Featured Replies

Hi all,

New to A3’s, well A3’s that aren’t looked after by my company anyway. I’ve got a 56 plate A3 S-Line 2.0 TDI 138 that makes a strange low-tone creeking noise when the wheel is turned and moving at low speed (e.g. - when parking or moving off from a junction). There’s no knocking noises, no creeks at speed, and no creeks or knocking noises when going over speed bumps, etc.

Any ideas guys/girls?

Cheers in advance

David

I'd first look at the CV (constant velocity) joints. Damaged or oily gaiters are a bad sign. Grip each drive shaft with Mole or similar self-locking grips and try to turn the shaft while the transmission is locked. There should be no movement at all if the joints are fine.
