Turn over but won't fire up

Featured Replies

Hi,

Reader but first time poster as was wondering if any could give me some advice. Have a a4 1.9 2007 diesel and while driving today lost all power and wouldn't restart

When trying to turn over it gets very very close to firing up, with the engine start spray sprayed into air filter, it actually fires then bangs and cuts out. My first thought was is it bad diesel or have I been stupid enough to put unleaded in.

Opened up and removed the cover to see if there was anything obvious like belt etc and notice this valve has smashed through the top. Picture attached, any idea what this is and if it is obvious that this is the problem?

Many thanks steve

Welcome to the forum Steve, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch.

My advice would be to try and think if you've put petrol in. How shortly after filling up.did the car cut out?

Did any lights come on the dash?

Cheers

Steve
