Hi, I'm looking at buying my first Audi S8 and am after any info on what to look for apart from all the obvious (service history ect). Some of the S8's for sale have rather high miles and I'm just wondering what kind of millage are they good for? Some lovely looking motors around for reasonable money however looks can be deceiving. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Steve, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂

key thing with the a8 d3 is electrical issues due to being such a high spec car. Just make sure all the toys work as they can be expensive to fix.

Cheers

Steve

One thing that saved me a load of money when buying a second-hand car was getting a hold of a code reader/diagnostic tool, a must have for me after I learnt the hard way and bought a car where the seller had removed the engine check light bulb from the dashboard. I always ask the seller before using it, but then the seller knows that you are serious about the condition of the car, i.e. it allows you to verify the VIN.

Have used the diag tool on multiple manufacturers, happy to share what brand/ model I bought, the one I have has both diagnostics but also allows for real-time monitoring, so great when trying to diagnose an issue.

Just let me know if you wish me to say what make/ model I went for.

All the best

Ed

Thanks Ed I have access to a snap on modus which I will be taking with me if and when I get to go looking. Still not sold my nissan yet. The modus allows real time diagnostics and also stored codes ect. Good advice though. I do now have reserves about the V10's, far too many with engine 'tick' should be cheap easy fix ect ect that leads to complete motor rebuilds.  Maybe it's one to avoid lol.
