Q7 suspension

Featured Replies

does anybody know where the suspension level sensors are located. The rear of my car is stuck in a higher position than the front which is putting the orange suspension light on after driving for 5 mins or so. Ive not had time to investigate fully as I’m really busy for the min but think it’s going to be a sensor as the compressor is working.

Hmm, not an expert, but a victim too. Could be that the electricals goosed. Does the suspension settings change okay on the MMI? Ifvthe pump is working continuosly, be warned as it may burn out and because tad dear to replace. Listen for a hissing sound as the air may be leaking out of a bag or hose, hence the front being down.

Hi I managed to get an hour the other day  to look into it a bit more and can confirm it appears the rear of the car is in off-road or lift mode and the front in comfort due to (I believe) a faulty level sensor. Using vcds the fault code 01400 suspension level control 001 upper limit exceeded intermittent freeze frame error code 66. Is in there.

I tried going into adaptation to check what it thought the individual height levels were to pin it down to which corner was upsetting the system but it wouldn’t let me in saying something along the lines of error 22 test parameters not met 🤔 or something similar. Does anybody know another way to read what the car thinks the levels are using vcds? The current height of the car from the centre of the wheels to the wheel arch is front L = 445mm , front R = 445mm , Rear R = 500 mm , Rear L = 510.

Cheers Dave.

Forgot to put a result to this post. It was a faulty release valve on the passenger rear suspension strut. Bought 2 replacements from knufftech I believe for about £20 each. Replaced both rear drivers and passenger sides and car works fine again.

Bigdave1230 i have same issue, last year replaced whole air pump all worked fine, today after car wash yellow light started to flash rear end stuck high and isnt moving front does move. tried to scan come up with error 66  and 01400, i assume it looks like rear end isint pushing air out like a sort of valve bloked, maybe you have a part number for that release valve ?

Sorry for the late reply I didn’t see it. I don’t know the part number as I didn’t get them from Audi. I got them from aerosus.co.uk they are air suspension specialists and sell everything. I’ve not had a problem since. I would recommend putting a little thread sealer on before fitting just to be sure. Hope this helps if you’ve not already sorted it.

yes Dave sorted, as I live abroad in Lithuania, what we first done in garage where the air pump sits it has air lines so disconnected front (front went straight down) and then disconnected rear (and rear air just stayed) I bought new parts from a shop for 40 euros each replaced them and spot on (the only problem was to replace the as tight space but we managed it with creativity, made a own spanner lol

Yeah the genuine tool is a socket with 2 notches to slot in but I used a pair of small grips. Hard to get to if your not using a 2 post ramp.

I too has this issue on a MK1 Q7, replacing the air pump sorted it. Audi wanted £1700 for a pump, found a supplier in Germany for exactly the same part, in fact I think they supply Audi, for €350 delivered in 48 hours. The problem is I can’t remember what the company are called but I am sure some time on Google will help.
