Key won't release the rear door A3 09

Anyone have any thoughts on why the fob won't release the back door outside handle mechanism on the A3? 2009

Press unlock and you can open from the inside handle.  Then it will open from the outside bizarrely.

The motor all works but not quite right somehow.

 

It does lock it though !

I know the unit is working . I guess I'm going to have to take the lock out. I suppose something Has come disconnected or a link  broken somewhere
