Motor of the glass elevator of the front left window.

Featured Replies

My car is an AUDI A3 8L, gasoline, 1.6 liter, from 2000.

I have the problem of, after lowering the glass it does not get up.

I have tried to get a new motor but, apparently, Audi does not have it in stock.

(A friend of mine has already disassembled the door, tried the motor and says "it's dead").

Where can I buy, even used, another motor ?

Can anyone give me advice, please ?

Thanks

Hello Fernando,

It seems strange that your friend says the motor is dead, when the motor works to open the window.

Personally, I would get a second opinion on this before attempting to buy a replacement motor.
If the motor has failed, have you tried looking on EBay?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks, Gareth.

In fact, some force is needed to do what the motor now does ...

But it does not succeed to close completely...

I'll try EBay.

Thanks Fernando,

I really sounds to me that you have issues with the various linkages rather than the motor.
I wouldn’t go off in a rush to buy another motor until everything else has been eliminated.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

You're right, Gareth. The customary reaction - to buy a new one - seldom is wise !

With two drops of WD40, the glass came to the top ! Some resistance is preventing the motor to do its job ...

Thanks.

Fernando

Well done Fernando,

Now instead of finding a new motor, you can now find yourself a new friend! This one can seriously damage your wallet!
Kind regards,

Gareth.
