Help needed Audi replacement radio

Hi - I’ve recently bought 2012 A1 for my daughters birthday & it has had replacement 2nd hand radio fitted. This doesn’t work (states compatibility problem?). Occasionally the radio will drop in for a few mins & then goes off. Do I need to take it to Audi specialist ? Or can anyone suggest a cheaper fix?any help appreciated. Am in Notts/S.York’s area. NB. The car will accept my mobile phone - just not the radio system. Thanks Michelle
