I’ve noticed over the last few weeks my Audi A4 black edition has been using a lot more petrol ? I’ve also noticed it’s constantly telling me to gear down. Going 30mph in 3rd but telling me to gear down to 2nd ?

I take it you are also using the E10 fuel. 
On the basis of simple things first, I just wonder if it’s worth leaving the current fuel level drop to reserve, then half filling the tank with the ‘old’ E5, and monitoring that.

Not much help, but my a5(45 tfsi auto)  is in 5th gear at 30mph, the same as my previous Outlander. Third gear (and second) would seem far too low a gear and would certainly explain excessive fuel consumption. I assume it is manual?
