Where to find a good 2006/7/8 A6 Avant Le Mans Quattro 3.0TDI?

Featured Replies

I've posted in Wanted but thought it'd be wise to post this more generally as I'm new here and looking for some buying advice.

A few years back a friend owned a 2007 A6 Avant Le Mans Quattro 3.0TDI, in black, and it was beautiful. I've wanted one ever since but was locked into long-term lease deals. But now I'm free of that I'm looking to find a nice example as a keeper. If anyone has one for sale, or knows of one for sale, I'm happy to travel for the right car. Ideally less then 100K miles if there are examples around, but I'll consider anything in good condition.

Are there any particular issues with this model I should be aware of?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch ☺️ they are lovely vehicles one of the moderators has one. Have a look at buyers guides on YouTube. One major issue with them is the swirl flaps sticking/failing. Also look out for issues with blocked dpf or egr.

Thanks Steve. Yeah I've hankered after one for years, and reckon they just look so classy. And that V6.

Where's the best place to look for one? I've rooted around Autotrader, CarGurus etc and there's a few available but all have well over 100k miles. Or are they fine running to large mileages?

I've noticed there appears to be engine output differences (177/187/230bhp), and some appear to be Quattro's, others FWD. Is there somewhere that notes the different specs for the different years the Le Mans variants?

Check ebay too. Unfortunately now is a bad time to buy cars as they're more expensive and people are holding on to them more.

It's all about the servicing. Ideally you want full history. On cars of this age or miles see when the Cambelt and water pump were changed. Also check when the gearbox oil was changed. And if the car is quattro which I believe they are then the tyres should match with even wear on tyres on the same axle. Otherwise it can cause damage to the quattro system.

Also the headlights are bi-xenon and when the bulbs are going they'll go a bit dim or flicker. They've around £180 per bulb I believe.

Thanks for the info. It's been quite a while since I've had anything other than a lease car so I've got no gauge as to what kind of mileage the A6 Avant with a 3.0TDi can sensibly do? I'm referring to the car as a whole; engine, auto gearbox, suspension, interior etc. How well do they hold up after 100k miles?

Would also be interested in understanding if the infotainment system has Bluetooth connectivity for my phone for calls and playing music?

As long as it's maintained it can do high mileage. For example my a6 c5 has done 339k miles but it's got full service history.

It's all in the history. Definitely check out the C6 buyers guide videos on YouTube.
