RS4 gas tank leak

Featured Replies

Hello all.  I was recently informed by my mechanic that the gas tank to my 2001 RS4 was sweating and that I may have a hairline crack. When i had it further investigated its seemed as if the leak was from higher up and draining down the side of the tank and it seemed as if there were multiple fine cracks into which the gas was seeping.....in fact the mechanic said to think of the appearance of a dried up desert where you see that cracked look on the ground....that's pretty much whats happening to the material the gas tank is made of.

We have conducted many searches and have not been able to find a replacement tank and I fear that if I got a used tank I may end up with the same problem down the road (but would prefer to go with that as I would want to maintain some semblance of originality).

At this point any feasible option is welcomed.

Some feedback please.
