Selling a ULEZ non-compliant 3.0 TDi Cabriolet outside London

I have a 2006 3.0 TDi Cabriolet which I love.  It’s in fabulous condition, with 97,000 miles on the clock.  I’ve just replaced the roof at a cost of £900 and fitted 4 new P Zeros recently.  It’s now exactly how I want it.

To see the ULEZ extension announced last week to cover all the London Boroughs was a kick in the teeth.  I live in the largest outer borough, and right on the outer edge of it.  I only do about 2,000 miles a year and was hoping to own the car for many more years, but a charge of £12.50 just to move it off my drive is just too much.  I’m gutted.

I am going to have to sell it as we need a second car, but understandably, values round here have instantly plumetted and I will get nowhere near what it is worth.

Can anyone recommend a good place to sell please?

Hello Neil,

Sorry to hear of your impending issue.
It sounds a nice car.
Good place to sell it?
Can we take it you have tried eBay, Autotrader , Pistonheads etc. - all of which have national coverage.
Of course, you are very welcome to offer it for sale on here. Just  enhance the description, and add some more photos and the acceptable price.
Apologies for adding to the downside, but it’s not really the time to sell convertibles - even outside emission zones - so I wonder if you might be able to SORN it until nearer to the spring.
I hope it works out better than anticipated for you.

Kind regards,

Gareth.
p.s. Part exchanging it further afield for the second car you are going to need ??

Thanks Gareth, yes I will wait to the spring and still use it in the meantime.  The extension doesn’t come in until August 23.

I haven’t tried selling yet - was just wondering if there was a good place to reach people who would really appreciate it rather than the usual routes you mentioned.

Will look to list here next year.  Thanks for replying.  Neil.

Thanks Neil,

But ‘’rather than the usual routes you have mentioned” . I don’t think you are going to achieve any greater coverage on a national basis than the ones I have mentioned, so I’m not quite sure what other market you are hoping to tap into.
There are now specialist ‘modern classic’ publications, but these would generally deal with pre 2000 vehicles, but of course you could try these as well.
If you think yours is a bot special then it sounds like it’s best to include Pistonheads in your coverage.
Repeating:- please put an advert on the forum.

Kind regards,

Gareth.
