2019 A4 Fuel consumption

Hello folks, I bought a 2019 A4 Avant last year and have found the fuel consumption to be terrible. on a full tank I'm told I have around 550 miles till empty and I reckon I never get many more than 300. If I stick the foot down at all then I will see clouds of light coloured exhaust in my mirror, presumably unburnt fuel. I have kind of leaned towards this problem improving slightly if I was on a longer drive. I took my car to Audi for a routine service and oil change and asked them to look into it. ( Please see attached photo for the fault code they produced)

Unfortunately Audi told me that all they had done was reset the fault and updated the software ( no idea why a software update was relevant but they did try to charge me for it!) It was explained to me that it was a fault on a fuel flap that regulates the fuel to the engine. I asked what condition this part was in and they hadn't even looked at it. i was told the software update would somehow fix it. So upon leaving the garage i drove for 50 miles and found that the consumption matched the distance and all seemed well till i floored it and we were back to square one with the issue.

My main issue at the moment is that i simply don't trust the garage to be doing the right thing by my car. I asked for the full fault history for the car, and they said they didn't have it. I have since learned from one of their former employees that it gets uploaded to some Audi database for future use and collection of history, can anyone confirm that? Does anyone have any experience of a similar issue, or can offer advise how to get this issue fixed without being ran around. They told me they spent 3.5 hours looking into this fault as a means to discover what was wrong and after a lengthy conversation it turns out they have done nothing other than update the software and reset a fault. They also knew i had an Autotrust warranty that would cover anything they found other than software updates, so i was confused as to why they wouldn't use that to do any work on the car that was needed.

anyway Id love to hear some views and advice on all this if anyone can share some.

cheers

Dougie
