I dont have a multimeter as i have no idea how to use it im a mechanical engineer by trade, electrics are not my thing

Hello David,

This has been going on for some time, and without reading back over all the posts:-

Have you checked the flexible harness section twixt tailgate and body - looking for fractured wires?
Have you now got yourself a multi-meter?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Dave.

Your error codes are still showing a short circuit or open circuit, just as they did two months ago when I suggested there was either water present or a broken connection. You will need to get a meter (and learn how to use it,) or take the car to somebody electrically proficient because tugging at the wires will not reveal the exact location of the fault.

Hello Dave,

It just doesn’t compute with my logic, that you are attempting to sort out electrical issues, by simple ‘visual means’, when a basic multimeter would be the minimum requirement. Sorry to say it as it is, but you simply aren’t  equipped - equipment or knowledge wise to solve this - if as you maintain that your mechanical engineering skills don’t flow over to any interest/knowledge of electrics, since they are ‘not my thing’.
I think a lot of us on here have had to develop skills beyond our qualifications, or we make a decision to leave the solving process to ‘those who know’.
I think this is really what you now need to do Dave - source the services of a trusted local auto electrician.
Good luck and kind regards,

Gareth.
