ACE engine lumpy idle

Featured Replies

My ACE engine is not idling correctly, I have cleaned the ICV and the idle

Before cleaning about 1.1rpm

After cleaning about 800rpm

If I do not sit there with foot on the gas peddle it will stall.

Is there a way to raise it?

hi francis, ive the same engine in my coupe and i changed the cold start valve on mine,it definitely improved it but i do get the same problem as you when the engine is cold,is yours ok once it warms up?

I have a new cold start valve in as it would not start before. The idle problem kicks in at 80 degrees and above.

I have a fix. I also own a mk2 Golf and I spotted a detail on the gas peddle cable that is the same for adjustment, at the end there is a castellated section with a clip on it for tension, I added a couple of castellations to the tension and I now have 1k solid tickover. 😁 The clip sinks into the rubber grommet, lowering the tension over time. 😎
