List your Q6 Faults June 2025

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Interested to hear from other owners if they are having the same faults as we are with the Q6, yes we were one of the first in the country to have the Q6 but our fault list is long and nothing seems to be getting done to resolve them, interested to read if others have the same faults.

I cleared 263 error codes, must check again.

Our list is below,

Unable to Start Vehicle Contact Workshop - This one left my wife stranded as would not do anything said had a major fault and to contact the workshop, closed car, waited a couple of minutes, entered car and issue not there anymore.

Driver Aid System - multiple faults and warnings with flashing yellow and red symbols from not working to go to workshop faults, turn off, wait a few seconds, turn on and problem gone.

Headlights sometimes do not come on when starting the car - Sidelights and Matrix high beam assist works but the dipped headlights sometimes do not come on and you have a black dark hole of lighting ahead of the side lights and then watch the Matrix high beam assist doing a dance ahead.

Tailgate - Double press the remote button twice quickly or slowly makes no difference, boot will sometime open, open a few inches and close, open and stop meaning you have to push the boot shut by hand to get it to open again etc etc.

Road Speeds - The camera based system ignores road signs and will put up anything, had it say 30 mph on a motorway, 70 mph on single lanes, when using cruise control it goes wrong as has wrong speeds ands either tries to slow you right down to a dangerous speed or speed you up to break the speed limit.

Entertainment System - Sometimes works sometimes does not work, sometimes connects to the phone other times says no phone, no music and then music comes on at full volume.

In Car Electronics - Forgets driver profiles, seat position, anything related to each setup on each persons name.

Audi App - Sometimes connects to the car other times does not and shows error codes, does not send any notifications despite being setup correctly, reported over 6 months ago and just get the same e-mail once a week that they are trying to resolve the issues, app is upto date, removed installed makes no difference.

Emergency Braking -  car will do a random emergency brake at random times, pulling away from roundabouts when no one else is around, reversing into our driveway when your no where near anything.

I am sure we are missing something but what are others finding?

To update everyone,

After months of issues and nothing happening I today was told to report all faults to Audi Customer Relations.

They were really helpful but like everyone else their hands are tied but the more people who report faults the more chance of issues being resolved.

So please all 0800 699 888 and report the faults, the more they get the more pressure it puts on Audi.

Should not be paying the large amounts of money we are all paying to have these issues.

Now they want the dealer to look at the car, the car that was at the dealer in April with issues.

Two steps forward one step backwards.

  • 1 month later...

Suspect it may turn out same in my case, wish I had joined the forum and read the threads before committing to mine.

I have all above issues and

most uncomfortable car / seat I ever drove - fixed head rest, no upper body support and the mid back support rather than a lumbar support !!!

Me also, the car is full of faults and issues and Audi seem to not be doing much to resolve any of them, giving them a little longer before the car gets rejected for not being fit for the road and as sold.

In received my Q6 around two weeks ago and I've had nothing but issues so far. I've documented the errors/issues so far:

Charging Issues

  • Following the disappearance of an initial error message after a few short journeys, the vehicle is now experiencing significant charging failures.
  • Whether connected to public charging stations or my home charger, sessions terminate often within minutes and display errors such as:
    • “Charging not possible. A technical error occurred"
    • “An error has occurred in the charging network"
  • I have tested multiple charging providers, sites, and speeds, with the same result.
  • Home charging-specific issue:
    • With no saved charging locations, the vehicle should default to “Immediate Mode.” Instead, charging terminates prematurely, and the car automatically creates a saved location with a randomly assigned charging timer.
    • Even after deleting the timer, manually selecting “Immediate” charging, or deleting the auto-saved location altogether, the issue repeats.
    • The only current workaround is to disable the location feature in the vehicle entirely, which negatively impacts other app-based functions

Range Performance

  • The advertised range for the Q6 S Line Performance is 350–360 miles.
  • On the only occasion the vehicle has successfully charged to 100%, the displayed range immediately after charging was 290 miles.
  • In practice, the maximum real-world range achieved has been under 260 miles, despite careful driving and minimal use of climate control and other battery-impacting features.
  • As a long-term EV owner (Tesla Model 3 for 4 years), I am familiar with range optimisation and how different vehicle systems affect the battery/range, but the Q6 is consistently underperforming relative to specification.

Sensor and Warning Errors

  • Within two days of delivery, a tyre pressure loss warning appeared despite all tyres being correctly inflated. The only resolution was to manually reset pressures through the vehicle menu.
  • The vehicle frequently generates false “door open” warnings, affecting the boot, passenger door, and bonnet.
  • The passenger door, however, does appear to have a fault with the locking mechanism, as it requires excessive force (relative to the other doors) to close securely.

Driver Assist System

  • On one occasion, the driver assist system failed to initialise on startup.
  • The fault could only be cleared after restarting the vehicle multiple times.

Android Auto & USB-C Functionality

  • The USB-C charging sockets do not provide reliable charging while Android Auto is active, significantly reducing usability of this feature.
  • When Android Auto is active, plugging the device in to charge via USB C rather than using wireless charging interferes with Android Auto.
  • If Android Auto/Apple CarPlay is active, I cannot charge a second device without it interfering with the media controls.

Is this the rear passenger behind the driver or the front passenger door.?

My rear door behind the driver requires more force to shut then the rest.

This is the front side passenger door. I haven't noticed the same with the rear doors but they've been less frequently used so far.

OK, my front door is fine.

Regarding you comment around rejection, is this an actual process I can follow if it gets to that point? My vehicle is on a corporate lease and the issuing dealership has little interest in helping to resolve the faults. I'm not sure what the options are in terms of sending it back.

How long have you had the car in days?

If under 300 days then you can easily reject the car.

I would write an e-mail to the dealer informing them of your rights of rejection.

These may help you.

Is it possible to close the windows of car remotely via the app? Am I missing any trick or is it just that the app has limited functionality? I had to walk all the way to car physically to be able to do that yesterday,  For a 70K car 🤷🏽‍♂️

No you can only do this with the key, the app is not worth using, its so far behind other manufactures yet Audi bang on about being a technical innovator, think they should be charge with false advertising, my old Kia had better app and functions and worked where as the Audi app is trash.

Fully agree.
I was able to do it gleefully on my GLC-de

range / wanting to go electric was the pull but regretting every day for having this car

I have owned Audis before and they have been faultless, the Q6 is a totally different ownership and this will not doubt be my last Audi, people have spoken to me about the Q6 about buying one and I have told them all the issues with the car and told them to not waste your money, Audi have known about my issues for almost 12 Months and not a single issue has been resolved, get told it is just my car yet others report same issues.

Shame as Audi used to be a decent brand.

If they continue down the road they are travelling they will be just like JLR, building faulty cars that people move away from the brand and look where JLR are now.

Just dropped the car at the Audi service centre this morning. Very nice service person's opening line: "Ah the Q6...the problem car...". Main issues appear to be charging related and they're seeing the same thing with the A6.

Bodes well. Already set my expectations that even after diagnosis, I might be waiting some time for the faults to be resolved as they'll be waiting on Audi.

Strange as I have no issues with charging.

I had a call from my dealers area manager who has been told by Audi Management that the issues will not be resolved until a major update thats planned to be released in Q4 of this year.

Wonder if your Audi Service center knows or says the same

I think as with any car, sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you get a bad one. The charging issues seem to be the most common it seem.

Thanks for the heads-up on the software update. I'll see what they say here and let you know if it's a similar story.

No worries, not seen anyone else mention charging issues on here.

Hopefully they can sort yours.

Hope so. The rest of the problems I can live with for now (not that you should have to live with issues with a brand new car!) but the charging is kind of a big one.

I hope yours gets sorted but for me the having no headlights in the dark and the car keep doing emergency braking when there is nothing in front of you is a issue and my neck cannot take more emergency braking stops.

They're not aware of any updates coming, but that's not to say there isn't one.

Unfortunately, there is no known fix for my issue, so it looks like it will be going back. It relates to what the vehicle perceives as overcurrent and shuts down charging.

Interesting as I got,

there is a big software update to be released in Q4 for multiple issues with the Q6 and he believes this may cure your my Audi issues.

There is an update coming for the Q6/A6 but it is supposedly for the US vehicles and not European vehicles. That would line up with what I've seen on one of the Reddit threads. Seemed a little vague on the details to me, though, so don't take my word for it.

Would not trust Reddit as a source of information myself.

Told my dealer if this does not resolve the issues we have had for 12 months they can have the car back and refund me minus usage.
