audi in lymph mode turbo not boosting

Featured Replies

Just bought 2014 a6 sline black edition.

2days later engine light, down on power, turbo not kicking in, blowing black smoke.

Last owner got turbo recond 6weeks ago... anyone ever have this issue....

Mechanic cannot source issue....

Do i send back to original garage who recond turbo 130km away.....

Any ideas on problem

Thanks for joining Tanya.
If the car ‘is in lymph mode’ you would best take it to a GP! - predictive text eh!
Anyway, back to the issue.
Bought from dealer or private sale?
If bought from a dealer, simply return it for them to fix it.
If bought privately, there is unlikely to be much chance of redress, unless the  advert mentioned anything about its mechanical condition, which led you to believe it was serviceable.
Returning it to the garage who repaired it for the previous owner?

That garage may well wash their hands of it since you were not the person who contracted the work to be done - but worth a try.
Please come back to us with some answers and we may be able to help.
Regards,

Gareth.

Private sale

No i contacted the previous owner who didnt even inform me of a recond turbo 6wk ago....

2 days after i bought engine lights and no power....

The garage will take it back but its 150km away.

i hope it turbo.... mechanic here think is as not boosting at all....even though turbines spinning. But not dph as oxygen sensor removed and was ok.

No pipes seem to be leaking

Any ideas? Much appreciated

Thank you

If the garage that reconditioned the turbo are willing to take it back in then that's the way to go. A few quid on fuel versus a few hundred quid on another turbo is a no brainer. Even if the turbo turns out to be ok at least that one cause off the list.

  • 2 weeks later...

It has been suggested that we should be ‘extra nice’ to non responding members rather than warning them after posting a prompt to them to respond.
It might work with some, but it doesn’t seem to work in your case, so any valid reason why we should keep prompting you Tanya?

I feel that’s now enough prompting prior to warning the poster.

If you do read this Tanya, please read ‘New Members - please read before posting’.
