NEWB to Audi question

I keep hearing about the turbo being electric on the SQ5, thats why there is no turbo lag. I am gonna have to look again. There is no information anywhere from any site giving info about this turbo setup.

Any input?

I did a search here and could not find anything. I tried turbo, electronic turbo. If there is something I can search to learn more, I will.

I believe its a VGT turbo, or a Variable Geometry Turbo, also known as a variable vane turbo.

There is an electronic control module that adjusts the exhaust turbine blades which means when the vanes are closed you get rapid spool up at low RPM, the vanes then open as RPM increases to provide more boost.

Thank you, I actually got to read about it.

There may not be much turbo lag but there is a thing known as pedal lag - I notice it much more with the SQ5 than I did with the Q5. Basically the throttle is slugged such that acceleration response from a stand-still is delayed unless you're in sports mode. I try to alway flick mine in sport when approching  a roundabout or junction in case I need a quick getaway.
