A3 8p front control arm bushes

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need to replace the from control arm bushes in my A3 2009 TDI..  They appear to come in alloy mounting brackets.

But I thought I would see if I  could buy the rubber bush on it's own.

I think I can as here -  https://ebay.us/m/iSBYoF

But are these pressed in hard at factory or can I just cut the old one out and push the new one in ?

Thanks

I don’t see any point in messing around with replacing bushes into your existing arms, particularly if you haven’t got access to a professional hydraulic press.
I don’t think the arms are particularly expensive. Please respond if you intend to replace the arms, and we should be able to point you towards competitive prices.

Regards,

Gareth.

Those are not worth replacing and difficult to separate too, just mark the position of the rear bush and replace the complete arm with new bush.

Hello. Yes it appears the alloy bracket bushes are £25 a pair to buy.  I think the bushes I could get for about £14 a pair from gsf.  So yes I suppose it's hardly worth it for tenner if they are a nuisance to squeeze in

Nearside Front Lower Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement.

That means this doesn't it ?

Yes that's them, they cause the wheels to sort of split apart when accelerating.

But it can also mean the front internal bush?

Added to which you would have to pay somebody to adjust the tracking afterwards.
