Just had a new problem, the drivers side rear door will not open from inside or outside, i know the child safety lock is on preventing opening from inside, can anyone advise if there is a way to open the door, thanks.

I'd recommend taking the door card off to see if the linkage/rod has come loose or detached 

Thanks, i think thats going to be the only option, i can hear the door handle clicking when i press the open button, i think its not going to be an easy job taking door card off while the door is closed

i managed to remove the trim and all screws except the bottom screw, which i cant get at, i have also removed the rear seat but no luck, im starting to think i might have to cut the door panel in half to get it off ?

im wondering if anyone has managed to take the rear door card off when the door cannot be opened.

ok, i managed to open the door by pulling on the door handle a few times then it opened, when the door handle is pulled its not moving the cable, but it doesn't seem to be broken ?

Getting access is half way to solving the problem, so that's a good start. You should examine every part of the linkage between handle and latch looking for slack connections as well as breaks.

thank i will do what you suggest, it looks like i have to remove the door handle to replace the door handle cable, cant find any youtube videos on how to do it on the B8.

just sprayed some wd40 into the door catch and its all working ok, even with the door card off its locking and opening with the remote, ?????

That's good news. WD40 should not be considered a long term solution because it congeals, so I suggest you add some ordinary mineral oil.
