OEM numbers and wiring diagrams

Featured Replies

Not sure if this type of post is already out there being a new member, but as the owner of a 2024 A3 8Y Saloon I'd like to add some further non factory fitted options on the vehicle such as ambient lighting and 360 degree cameras etc. I like to do the fitting myself as a hobby/challenge and I own an OBDeleven and have long coding and one click experience.

The area I need everyone's help with if possible, is genuine OEM part numbers and wiring diagrams/instructions where factory wiring wasn't included in the loom for such as the above mentioned.

Maybe a daft question, but is there an OEM number look up or catalogue so that I may look for and purchase such as the genuine ambient light fitted door strips, and the lower area of the wing mirror parts with canera lenses for the 360 degree cameras, and is there wiring diagrams to show me where wiring should then run and what it should connect?

Many thanks, Steve.

Hi you are a brave man considering the year of your car which is definitely fitted with the SFD+ protection system, this was fitted to stop people from doing this type of thing the only chance you have of doing this is to run in new fused feeds to each item from the battery terminals, any tampering with the main loom will cause the circuit protection system to kick in and close the can gateway down because it thinks its being stolen, very expensive trip to the dealers and not a warranty covered item, I also have OBDEleven and the only one click options that work are on pre 2019 cars after that it says its done it, takes the credits and nothing happens, example trying to reset the  service/inspection intervals after service on OBD it took twenty credits for two tries and nothing happened, go again on the latest VCDS it tells you to open the bonnet to disable the SFD for this function press SRI rest twenty seconds later its done with no credits plus any other in depth adjustments it gives you the security code to access the thing you want like injector coding etc.

Hi Steve,

I appreciate the advice.

My intention would never be to wire aftermarket fitments into an existing loom, but rather check if existing wiring and connectors are in place behind door cards etc, or run my own wiring to the rear glove box fuse deck.

Long coding is my preferred option for changing settings with OBDeleven, and this is to switch on hidden MMI functions, ambient lighting controls, horn with lock etc.etc. and always after backing up existing settings.

I may well take a look at VCDS.

Thanks, Steve

I retrofitted a reverse camera on my 2023 A3. OBD11 worked fine to unlock SFD and do long coding. I used oem camera and wiring loom parts from main dealer which were cheaper than online. I did have to get the camera parameters loaded at my local indie but only £30. Finding wiring diagrams for recent models is difficult and erwin etc is your best bet. A friendly dealership should be able to give you part numbers and any wiring add ons. Good luck. Keep us posted on progress. Always interested in retrofits.

Brilliant. Thanks for the steer and i'll definitely keep you and the group up to speed with any successes (and temporary failures no doubt)

I have the reverse camera already from factory, but would like to fit the mirrors and front grill cams and code the 360 view on MMI.
