Hello there I’m new to the group as have come here as I am lost on what to do next to get this airbag light off. The fault code B103315 is came up which is the pedestrian protection crash sensor (front passenger side). So I bought that part for it part number 5Q0959651B. I then spent hours today fitting it as I could get my bumper off due to rounded screws so ended up doing it a probably easier way and took the side grills where fog lights are off and managed to change the sensor that way. Plugged in the OBD11 to clear the code and straight away the safety system warning sign comes back up and the fault doesn’t clear. Anyone had this issue will jt now be a wiring issue or anything else I can do? A bit lost and would appreciate any help. Thanks

Sounds like the car needs scanned with VCDS to pinpoint it. There’s a few sensors at the front.

In addition, that bumper will need to come off. Majority of screws are either Torx or M8/M10. You can get Irwin bolt removal sockets. For Torx, you might need to drill a pilot hole and then use an easy out. Irwin stuff is very good. Spray PlusGas penetrating release on it too.

At least with the bumper off you can inspect the wiring. With any airbag related work, 12v battery disconnected, stick on trickle charge and wait 30 mins before commencing work.

Thank you so much for you reply! I’ll look in to see who has a VCDS near me and hopefully have a better idea, I thought it would have just been that one sensor.

For the bumper it is torx 30 I think, my brother came and drilled a flat piece out of it to use a flat head to turn it which we managed but there was also these like nuts on the underside which I couldn’t grasps with pliers to stop turning with the screw.

I appreciate the help very much much.

Hi if you replace anything to do with crash protection its likely it needs to be readapted to the car as do airbags parking sensors, new seatbelts and modules.

Hi Steve thank you for your reply I appreciate it, could you give me any more information how to do that? Or is that a garage job. Thanks,

Rachel

I don’t know enough about it, but when you scan car with VCDS it will check each electronic module which all report back to the car’s main ECU. If there’s an error, it may require to be fixed then adapted back to the module. A bit like replacing the battery, then coding it to the car, or replacing the fuel filter, then priming it electronically.

See if you know someone with VCDS. Regards Torx screws, a torx screwdriver is no use, you need a Torx driver, usually on a 1/4” ratchet to get proper purchase. In my experience they rarely break, unlike the 8mm or 10mm hex fasteners. Sorry, my mistake they are not M8/M10.

Hi unless you have VCDS or can borrow someone its a garage job provided they have the correct diagnostic software, Sorry.

Steve.
