Fuel smell through heater vents

Featured Replies

Got car back after full service to find a smell of fuel when using heater. Garage told me they recommended new spark plugs (not fitted so far ) and this is what is causing the smell although its only since they serviced it that the smell is apparent.... make sense?

That makes no sense at all. Either the staff are incompetent or they are trying to defraud you. Either way, take it back and give them another chance, then refer the garage to Trading Standards if you don't get a satisfactory response.

Could it just be unburnt fuel around the plugs? Just throwing it out there. A3 I had when just left sitting and only run on tick over it developed like a miss then cleaned up as soon as ran again

I've had the car 1 year, only 31k though it's 2018. The garage gave it a full service & mot'd it and asked if the plugs had been changed (recom 72k or 72 months old). I'm pretty sure they haven't. The fuel smell wasn't apparent before they had it in which makes me suspicious even though the plugs may well need changed... they quoted me £208 to supply and fit which seems high to me.
