Audi A5 Starting issue (Help Required)

Featured Replies

I have a 2012 Audi a5 Coupe 2.0 diesel Manual. Just got it the other day. Woke up next morning car would not start dash was beeping with a Parking brake Malfunction and ESC fault. After pushing the key in and out several times the car cranked and started and the faults disappeared. Taken to garage plugged in machine and has several voltage issues. Was advised battery needs changing. Purchased a new battery fitted same day and machine showed no faults there after. Same night same issue. It is intermittent but very draining as cannot start takes several attempts of putting key in and out. When it’s not starting there is no crank just beeps with the faults mentioned. Anyone had this issue or any advice?

Welcome Jay and sorry to hear of your issue.
Dealer or private purchase?
Was the new battery coded to the car?

Has anyone checked for a parasitic drain after all electrical systems have ‘shut down’ - about 3 minutes after car has been locked?
Sounds like the ignition lock is not in the best of health.
Please come back to us.
Regards,

Gareth.

Hi thank you for your response Gareth, I bought it from private Garage, he claimed to give 3 months warranty however explained fault but nothing back. I will check over the things you mentioned and provide an update.

Thanks

The thing is I called him and did say, however he was being difficult saying that the car has no issues and I had Part exchanged it. I gave him my old Audi plus some cash his way. He has been nothing but difficult to deal with I just about managed to get him to cover half the cost of the battery . He seems like a crook aswell as the way his dealership operates had seen reviews that he clocks his vehicles back. (which I realised after the purchase) I’m too faar into it to return as I’ve already spent £300 on the car with a service and new battery. I’ve rang my mechanic again he advised to bring the car through today for another diagnostic check and previous fault codes. Wish me luck lol.

Was this purchased within the last 30 days Jay? If so you could consider rejecting the car and getting a full refund.

My mechanic thinks this is the fault code for the issue on going. Are you familiar to this code?
