A3 Stronic whining sound

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue to the one I'm experiencing.

I have a 2019 A3 1.5 petrol(35) auto. 7 speed Stronic. Car has 58000 miles on it.

I've only had the car about 1 month and a few weeks ago a warning popped up, something along the lines of "Electrical fault occured, shift to p and contact workshop". The fault disappeared after turning the car off and back on again. It then kept coming on intermittently when shifting from D to S.

I did the old transmission reset by holding the pedal down and it seems to have worked but every now and then there is a whining noise when in first gear, and the gear change from 1st to 2nd can sometimes be a bit jerky.

When driving in manual there is no such noise.

I'm not sure if the gear box has ever been serviced, I've contacted Audi but they chinned me off. It does have full Audi service history so I'd be surprised if the gear box has been neglected.

Any one experienced these issues before?

Thanks in advance

Auto transmission boxes require oil change every 38k. If it’s Approved Audi, you’ll be covered. If not, contact the selling garage. Needs to be hooked up to VCDS to scan for more details. In the meantime, don’t drive it.

If you bought from a dealer take it back. Read up on your Consumer rights. A fault occurring within 6 months the dealer is responsible and must attempt repair.
