Help! Adblue/DEF error

Help! Adblue/DEF error

Hi all, I have a 2018 Q5 2.0 TDI Euro 6
I’ve recently received an error message with the engine management light “Adblue/DEF error - no restart in 650 miles”
Below (comments) is the error codes that have been flagged up but to be honest I’m not sure what to make of them.
I’ve seen from other owners that if taken to Audi for something like this a fix will be £1k+ which isn’t ideal so I was wondering if anyone know of other options e.g adblue delete.

To save regurgitating information that has been repeated many many times, search forum history on the matter of Adblue.

Yeah, I’ve read a couple posts. Was just looking for input on my error codes in particular. Seems consensus (from what I’ve seen) is that the system is terrible and to just get it looked at by VAG specialist rather than Audi. Would I be correct?

That's about the size of it, and note that it will be expensive. There is the alternative of deletion but that comes with its own problems.

Any chance you can point me in the direction of deletion threads? Can’t see so much relating. Thanks for your help.

Hi there is probably a few deletion services near you, try getting the level sensor reset but if that wont work have it deleted its an awful system that thrives on low milage cars thats why Audi recommend having it drained and flushed every two years regardless of milage.

Thanks Steve.

Audi refer to AdBlue as reductant, and that’s how errors are identified in VCDS. Before you condemn the AdBlue tank, the wiring needs to be checked. The AdBlue tank has a heater, pump and level sensor. As mentioned, it’s not cheap, and it’s an integral unit so if one part fails, the entire unit needs to be swapped out. There’s wiring and pipe (with secondary integral heating coil) that feeds to the AdBlue injector. I’ve seen a couple of videos on Q5 where this part has failed. They test with multimeter for open circuit. If it fails, they replace the entire pipe.

Whatever the fault is, once you get it resolved, add Forte anti-crystal to AdBlue every time you top it up.

Seems like deleting the adblue would be the simplest option? Save the headache. What are your thoughts?

I don't know enough about it. It's a MOT fail, illegal, etc. Car is 2018, so still has value, so when you move it on - then it's going to become apparent it was removed and any likely consequences. In addition, surely emissions will go up?

Rather than guesstimate, see what's actually causing the errors. As suggested, it could be the secondary heater and pipe. Think the part is £180 plus labour. If it's the actual tank you're looking at £1,200, plus coding, plus labour. Don't forget to start adding Forte AdBlue anti-crystal as part of preventative maintenance regime.

Hi there is not a test for adblue in current MOT legislation nor any gas test for NOX. consult Darkside Developments for your best options.
