Predictive Cruise Control / Adaptive Cruse Assist

Featured Replies

Now I know many people hate this functionality and it can be a bit hit and miss but I have dodgy ankles and rely on it heavily.

I'm talking about when the cruise control automatically picks up the speed limit signs and adjusts its target speed.  I used to have this in my old Q4 (72 plate) but just picked up a new 2025 A5 Avant (the PHEV version) and it doesnt have it.  After assuring me this was included when I bought the thing, the dealer now terlls me that it isnt installed on any of the new A5 models (nor the A6 or other new models that came out last year(

Any idea why?!  I'm now stuck with a 3 year lease on a car that hurts me to drive!!

Having issues with ACC myself, I came across that option in the owners manual.  ( I just skipped past it as it's not something I'm interested in ).

The reason I don't like the idea of the car setting speed accordingy is because in the few weeks I've driven the car, one thing I notice is it often reports different speed limits to what the actual limit is.

As a result, I have the * button set to kill the warning sound, but the speed sign often flashes on the HUD when in fact I'm already within the speed limit. I don't trust it  🙂

I have an Edition 1 the Sound & Vision pack so perhaps that function isn't available on all models? Sorry to be so vague, just not familiar enough with the product yet.

I do not think that Audi have perfected the Traffic Sign Recognition yet, and due to the sate of some road signs I am not sure it will be 100% fixed in the future. Auto speed limitation is also not something I am interested in but I do use Google Maps for Nav and that can ping false limits. For example, when you pass A roads whilst on the M-Way and the GPS locations thinks you are on a different road. With all things techy like the HW and SW in these advanced motors there will be improvements and enhancements all the time but even the tech has its limits when it comes to what us Humans present and expect at times.

It's not only Audi that has this problem. From what I have read every car manufacturer is facing the same difficulty, yet are being forced by legislation into providing these functions despite them being unreliable.

over years different self driving functions have crept in. They work to a fashion but nothing replaces a well conditioned, trained and alert Human at the wheel.
