Electric Charge Range - Q6 Edition 1

Featured Replies

Don't buy an electric Audi. I'm currently driving an Q6 Edition 1 2025 model and the maximum charging range Audi advise is nowhere near to what the car achieves. And this is before any driving is done. The figure is misleading and way off what is achievable. The figure Audi state is around 290-300 miles on a maximum charge. I am lucky if I achieve 200 miles on a good day. However the other day I only achieved around 180 miles. This is before any driving is done therefore you can knock another 10-15% off that figure for real world driving. That is ridiculous. Audi are already under scrutiny for misleading EV charging claims. Save yourself the headache and don't buy electric. The car itself is lovely but the range is so disappointing.

Every car maker makes outlandish claims for electric range. Audi is not unique in that regard. The same applies to wet fuelled cars.

The range on every type of motive power is largely dependent on how heavy footed you are.

Hi Cliff, totally agree with what you're saying.  My issue is the car will not even charge to anywhere near to what Audi claim.  Before I even get into the car the battery only manages to charge to around 200 miles on a 100% charge.  The other day when it was quite cold the battery only charged up to around 180 miles.  This is before any driving is done.  I've been told the battery is fine.  So if I then take into account real world driving I can knock another 10-15% off that figure depending my driving style and other components I may have on the car.

Perhaps you are forgetting the temperature effect. Range always decreases as the ambient temperature drops, and increases again as the ambient temperature rises. My own car has a predicted range of 100 miles in high summer, but only 60 miles in the weather we have had recently. That's perfectly normal and expected, though I daresay the dealer did not mention it before taking your money.

The range shown on the dash is a guestimate based on how you last drove the car, the temperature and remaining battery charge. I only ever work from the %age charge and the average consumption on the journey I’m on. To be honest, my previous ICE wasn’t a lot more accurate.
I charged mine to 90% on Friday night, and it showed a range of 180 miles as Friday had been a couple of short journeys around town in traffic. Drove 154 miles, mostly motorway at 70 ish mph and still had 33% charge left on Saturday night. Temp was around 5-7 degrees. Would have a safe 70 miles left, and a nervous 80 or so.

in summer I think I should get close to 300 miles  range.

The good old guess a meter has caught another owner, ignore this, make a note of the mileage, then charge, then when down to a set figure make a not of the miles to that figure and it should give you an idea and this will change when the weather improves as your find.
