Water Noise When Raining

Featured Replies

Hi

I bought a second had SQ2. October 2022 model. 15,000 miles. Immaculate

However, when it rains get a sloshing sound of water at the of the front doors on both sides

Been in the workshop twice. Road tested with a Master Technician. He drove a Q2 in the rain. Made the same sound.

He put it down to a "character issue" for this model as opposed to a fault

Has anyone encountered this problem?

David

Welcome David and sorry to hear of your issue. I’m not a Q2 owners, so I can’t help you with experiences of similar issues, but a couple of suggestions:-

Do a forum search on say, ‘water, door’ ( selecting Everywhere from the drop down menu). You may find some yes, I’ve had that or not.
One question to ask yourself- Do you think VAG would have marketed this model if it had this ‘characteristic’ issue?
Might be well worth taking the car to a trusted local large scale bodyshop and talking to them about it.
Please let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Gareth.

Many thanks

Bought from Lookers Audi Ayr. 160 miles away from home. Lookers Audi Silverlink Wallsend is closer.  I live in Northumberland. Been in Silverlink workshop twice. Had Audi TT and Golf R32 and R from the same group

Seems no one has raised this issue with Ayr or Silverlink. It suggests a "fault" rather than a "characteristic". Lookers Silverlink have a body shop within a mile of their showroom.  Have used body shop before for alloy wheel repairs. I will call one day to seek an opinion

Agree I very much doubt if Audi would have released if there was such a fault

Kind regards

David

Bit lost David.

’Had Audi TT and Golf…… (in workshop)…’.
With the same problem??
When did you buy this vehicle, and how long has this issue been evident?

Bodyshop ‘ I will call one day….’. Doesn’t seem you are setting much urgency on getting the issue sorted.
Regards,

Gareth.

Hi

No issues with TT or the R32 or the R

Cross purposes.

It was evident from the day of collection on the drive back from Ayr in heavy rain

I have certainly not sat on it

Bought the SQ2 in Autum  2025.

Been trying to resolve the issue since then

Needed a really wet day to have a  run out with a Master Technician

Believe or not Tuesday gone was the first wet day

They had it on for a week from 5th January. Second time it had been in. First time in December

Was a month lead time for a courtesy car in January as I am 20 miles away from Silverlink

Hi

Two people have already responded to my first post about water noises around the top of my SQ2 windows when raining. Like water lapping on the sea shore

One person has mentioned he has seen posts on this topic

Both sides of the car affected. No other issues with the car

Has anyone else got this problem? If so, what is the cause and the remedy

David

Has anyone experienced the issue but what is more had it fixed

David,

Have a re-read of the second paragraph of your initial post - I guess it is written incorrectly.
Initial interpretation was ‘water sloshing in the doors’.

Please explain clearly where this water sloshing is actually evident, and help us by not including references to other vehicles which we now find have zero connection with your issue.

Sorry, but..

Hi

It is hard to fully describe the noise unless you are in the car when it is raining

When I first spoke to Lookers Audi Wallsend I compared it to water draining from a handbasin where the handbasin is adjacent to a bath and both use the same outlet pipe and the water from the handbasin does not drain  quickly as there is a small blockage in the outlet pipe. We have recently had this issue in our bathroom at home. I suppose the expression  to use is "glug glug glug"

David

It could just be me, but have you re-read the second paragraph of your first post, and attempted to correct it?
Your last post, doesn’t make it any clearer where this noise is actually manifesting itself David.
We are talking cars here, not bathrooms at home!
