2021 saloon reversing camera issue

Featured Replies

My image from the reversing camera started to go blurry around 2/3 months ago and now it’s intermittently showing a picture when in reverse.

How easy is it to access? Does the boot lid trim come off easy enough and does anyone have any experience of removing it?

thanks in advance

Fitted an oem reverse camera to my a3 8y sportback. Not sure if the saloon is exactly the same. Remove the warning triangle and there are two torx bolts to remove. These are the only bolts the rest are metal clips. Remove the plastic trim cover for the rear lights on each side of the boot lid. Using plastic trim tools, slide the tools into the bottom edge of the trim and lever out and pull. The clips are very tight and require quite a bit of effort. When refitting check all the metal clips are on the trim and not left on the car. Sorry don't have any pictures but there will be videos on the net.

I think there may be two more torx bolts under the rear light trim. Memory not what it was!

So it’s very different to what you described but found a great video on YouTube.

managed to get it off and access to the camera and it’s buggered. New camera ordered!

All good then. You may need to code it to the car. Not sure - mine was an all new oem installation that required camera parameters to be recognised by the car but since you already have the code it may not be necessary. All depends if the camera is part of the sdf security feature. Be interested in feedback on this. Good luck.

Alternative part number showed up, plugged in and everything is perfect. No coding required thankfully.

Thanks for the feedback. Useful to know. There are cameras that have a wash function linked to the rear screen washer on the hatchback that I was thinking of trying bur did not want to mess with parameters so might try replacing it now.
