Hi just saying hello and introducing myself as first time owning an Audi but also after a bit of help.

So far in my ownership I’ve had a fair few faults which I’m trying to get the dealership to resolve but wondering if there is anything else I should keep an eye out for 2014 A3 1.4tfsi CoD engine. So far it’s had b11629 fault code which I’ve seen is common on the gearbox micro switch also the daytime running light has started throwing a wobbler saying it’s broke and then it’s working which is all stuff I’m trying to get the dealer to sort, I have noticed it does smoke a bit from the exhaust when I’m sat at traffic lights when it’s warmed up but I don’t know if that’s just damp/cold weather or something more concerning

looking to do a few subtle mods in due time

But just want to get a general idea of anything else to look out for!

I’ve tried but they aren’t playing ball I’ve got a background in car finance so I know all about the consumer rights but yeah been a nightmare start and because i paid by card harder to do anything demanded quite a bit of work though from them to be done see if they play ball with that if they want to repair it

Thanks for the welcome though

Good morning Ben, and sorry to hear of your discontents.

When you say ‘dealership’, I guess you are not talking main dealer here, since it’s highly unlikely that any main dealer would retail a 12 year old vehicle.

What sort of/ size used car sales did you buy it from?

Bearing in mind its age, it might be considered to be somewhat unreasonable to expect it to be free from faults, but should be fit for purpose.

Have you e-mailed the seller and listed the faults you have found, and want corrected?

Realistically, the longer the list, the more time it is going to take them to ‘sort them’, and you may find it will significantly eat into your 30 day rejection limit, so beware.

Smoke? What colour is this?

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks for replying, yes pretty much a small dealership although large stock I understand the age thing wasn’t expecting anything pristine and yes I have listed all the faults I think they are relatively on the cheaper side doing my own research but all occurred very quickly and reliant on it for work.

The smoke is like a thin white that easily dissipates it most likely might just be that I’ve only noticed in the cold and being overly concerned with having the issues I have already

Love the actual look of the car etc though so in 2 minds to reject or repair it

Thanks Ben,

How many days of the 30 day reject option are now left?

Sounds like you will have to come up with a quick decision which allows them time to carryout repairs to your satisfaction before you will be able to reject it.

Hey, yeah sorry opted for the repair currently with them now feel confident that they have agreed to the list of things I had requested for now, there was only about week left for the reject option but guess I’ll see how this repair goes I know if there’s issues in the first 6 months I’m still protected at least

Moving forward do you know of any common problems to look out for?

Also what’s common mods that people do that are subtle and not over the top
