Sudden total loss of power going up hill

Featured Replies

Hi new to the forum and looking to see if anyone has experienced anything like this. Driving yesterday (2021 a3 sportback 35, 36,000 miles annd just serviced in December) and went to accelerate off the motorway up an uphill, right turn slip road. Just as I got to the right turn, engine revs slowly died (foot to the floor) and the car crawled to a stop on the flat.

No errors or warnings or anything.

Was in a bit of a panic as it was a dangerous situation! Hazards on, put car into park then back into drive, would barely move (like 1mph).

Stopped and restated car and everything’s fine.

Any suggestions? Am not happy as I am now paranoid that going to happen in lane 3 of the motorway!

Thanks in advance

David.

Is yours a hybrid power train?

Hi Cliff thanks for taking the time - it’s a petrol 35 Tfsi mhev S- it’s got the regenerative braking tech etc but it’s not full hybrid

So it's a mild hybrid. See this topic which seems similar to yours, though has not shown a resolution yet.
