Digital Instrument cluster - black out - A6 s-line

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Had a strange incident this morning. As I drove off I noticed the instrument cluster had gone completely black, like it was off. The only icon was the red warning triangle and indicator signals were working.

I thought stopping and turning off the engine would reboot it, but this didn’t work. So I drove to work which is 20miles using google maps as a speed indicator etc. When I got work I left it for 30mins and went back and the digital display was now operating but with every warning light now on.

Now this next bit was a stroke of luck, good timing, just 30days before I had taken out a 2yr service and warranty plan which came live today. So I called Leicester Audi who said they couldn’t see the car until end of May, they recommended calling Audi Assistance. They came out in 30mins and diagnosed a new cluster was required. (An independent firm may have been able to do some tricks for ££) He said if you didn’t have a warranty it would be anywhere between £1000-1500 to sort.

As soon as this AA guy left, I had phone call from the centre with a pre-booked vehicle an Audi Q7 and a uber taxi to collect it from Derby (leicester had no cars available).

I cannot fault the service so far, no money has been taken for anything (as yet) I just hope they don’t try and say this is a wiring issue as that is of course not covered.

Anyway I should have it all sorted by Tuesday.

PS the Q7 edition I have is pretty stunning.
