A4 Avant 2013 2.0 TDI Thermostat replacement

Featured Replies

Hey everyone hope you are well just a quick question regarding the thermostat on my 2.0TDI 2013

I picked up a new thermostat and housing from Audi yesterday along with 5l of coolant, is this a job that I can do on the drive at home or would it be best to take it into a garage to get replaced ?

Don't want to get myself into trouble and get stuck if its a horrible job to do

Thank you

Hi Steve thanks for the reply mate it's a 2013 2.0 TDI avant Black edition Quattro B8.5 i'm not very clued up on Audi so not sure what the ultra is ? I was advised due to my symptoms it would be the main thermostat at fault and pictured below is what Audi gave me yesterday

I have had a few labour quotes one of £130 and the other £80-£90 he said the alternator would nee to be removed to do the job ? I haven't heard of that before on what ive since read when replacing the thermostat ?

Any ideas before I respond to them

Thank you

they are very reasonable quotes mine was a pig to do but that was on a audi a4 2011 tdi

Just to update the thread the Mobile Mechanic arrived at lunchtime did the job in around 1.5 hours without touching the alternator and I paid £90 labour so quite happy with that
