Batteries

Featured Replies

I have an eight year old Q5. It has done a low mileage of almost 14k miles and does a lot of short journeys. I've never had any (obvious) problems with the battery but have read that as batteries deteriorate they can cause electrical problems. It's in for a service next week and just wondered about getting a new battery at the same time. I'm not bothered by the cost, just don't want any problems with the car.

8 years is very good, and who’s to say, you couldn’t get another 2 years out of it. Batteries tend to let you down when you least expect it, so If money isn’t an issue, then swap out like for like. Will be AGM. Also needs coded to the car.

Sure you can run a multimeter on it, but that doesn’t tell you health under load, just voltage. Anyway, that’s my tuppence worth.
