Bodger Bill
My V6 TDI cranks well on new battery but no sign of life. Did the 5 seconds "ignition on" as required for a new battery as given in the hand book. I maintained 12V from a small battery via cigarette lighter socket during the change over in an attempt to keep functionality of remote locking etc. There are 2 standing warning lights up - the engine icon for emissions fault and the skidding car icon for electronic stability programme (which should be on after battery disconnection according to the hand book) The only thing I haven't tried is to disconnect the new battery to allow a system re-boot and see if the engine icon clears. Can anyone add anything? Bodger Bill
Audi Owners Club
If it's cranking then it sounds like the batter is connected fine etc. Sounds like a possible immobiliser issue to me. An immobiliser would still let the engine turn over but it would prevent it from actually starting.
Bodger Bill
A local VAG specialist sorted it out - the main fuel pump pressure regulator had stuck open so the computer sensing pump failure didn't bother opening the fuel injectors. Why this happened at the same time as the battery failure I don't understand BB
