1997 Audi A3 1.8t agu rattle, URGENT

Featured Replies

i bought an audi a3 1.8t 150bhp,agu code. car is completely standard. after a 320mile drive home the car has developed a rattle under gentle acceleration at about 2500-3000rpm, it also rattles when i lift of the throttle but it goes away when it drops below 2500rpm or when i accelerate, i am pretty sure it is the turbo as when i take if for a joyfull drive then turn it off, when i restart the car it gasses me out. this doesnt happen very often but i was told that it sounded like turbo seals, i think the bearing may be rattling now, ive not had the chance to check. iwas looking at the ko3 rebuild kit for around £30. i am confident about doing the work myself. has anyone rebuilt there turbo thereselves. thanks

Hi Stephen, how many miles has the car done? Have you scanned for any error codes?

the car has tone 170k, and no not checked for codes, going to look for a cheapish code reader for my laptop, lust thought the symptoms alone would identify thre problem

If it's gassing you I'd check the first half of the exhaust system for leaks too
