Torque converter issues?

Featured Replies

Ive been having problems with my auto audi a4. It kind of slips at low speeds but no power is getting to the wheels.like when clutch slips on a manual car.the garage i bought the car from are thinking it may be down to the torque converter?.has anyone else experienced this problem. What price am i looking at for a fix as my warranty only covers up to £300

what year and engine ?

Is your gearbox multitronic or tiptronic  ?

Without a proper diagnostics its imposible to advise. A gearbox specialist should be able to advise .

Google about issues with audi multitronic boxed . There is lots of topics ... like this one

 https://www.audiworld.com/how-tos/a/audi-a4-b8-multitronic-cvt-problems-421233

Multitronic needs oil changed every 40k if not then it can be an expensive fix

One thing i can advise if you will decide to fo any repairs , hold off with oil change as it will be drained off as part of the repair anyways

Ok mate thanks the car is already at the garage they are trying to diagnose the problem i just dont want to be ripped off...could the torque converter itself break?

It could be. Finger crossed its nothing too expensive.

Keep us posted

Hi people the garage changed my tranmission fluid and filter and is still the same. Next thing they are saying is dual mass could be gone and quoted £670😠😠has anyone else had dual mass go

Hi. Old thread I know, I apologies.

Just wondering if there was an answer to this issue.

I've similar experience with my 08 B8 V6 tdi Avant s-line 8 speed.

The box is undecided as to what gear it wants to be in, worse when cold and in D.

8 speed, flappy paddles and manual control.

Going to a specialist on Tuesday but would like more knowledge before then. Searching Google seems very conflicting.

Thanks
